Personally, the scene with Shepard and Anderson on the Citadel after opening the station's arms had me pretty choked up. I probably would've started crying were it not for the horrendous scenes that followed. This would've actually been the first time that I've cried because of a video game, and about the fourth time that I would've cried at any sort of fictional story.

What I'd like to know is whether or not anyone else has been at the point of crying at any point in the Mass Effect series, or any video game for that matter.

I didn't care about Anderson's death because I was caught in a "WTF trance". My immersion was already lost even before the glitter child showed up.

Garrus's goodbye was definately a high point in the game, emotionally-speaking.

Never cried by watching any emotional scene in a video game. Legion's death made me angry and relieved though. John Marstons ending in RDR made me really angry and choked me a little. Just had to go killing people to soothe the anger.

Starscreams death from TFers Armada made me cry, but that's a TV show and I was young.

I hate that killing Wrex scene, it is truly harsh and made only harsher by that email you get on the Normandy afterward.  Did you read it?  It basically demoralizes Wrex as a random angry Krogan and puts Shepard up as a poor innocent Alliance soldier.  It was horrible.

As far as the OP goes, I don't think I actually teared up at any point in the game, but I definitely had some strong heart-tugs at things like Mordin's death and Thane's.  Renegade makes me feel guilty as hell.

By the way, in case not many people have seen it, I think the worst is Legion's death when you choose the Quarians over the Geth but you were Paragon to Legion in ME2.  You're still forced to shoot him, but he has that line where he says "Does this unit have a soul?" and Tali says yes and then he dies...I hate shooting him....

Shooting Mordin in the back with my second Shepard.

Never again.

@Alienboy411676
Shoot the Geth VI instead. That unit has no soul.

As much as I loathe the Geth, if it came down to it I doubt I could shoot Legion more than once. For the VI, three times seemed barely enough.

Mordin's death.
Thane's prayer.
The end. Not for the eason you think, just because it was all over and I was sad.
Saying goodbye to Liara in the EC.
But the one that got me in the feels the most was Legion. I have no idea why. Maybe it was beacuse I just did the entire Rannoch chain in one sitting with no breaks and was a bit strung out.

I'm literally just about to go do this mission now, destroying the geth just to see what happens.
Now I'm really not looking forward to it.

You don't "have" to shoot Legion. Ignore the renegade interrupts and the scene plays out the same way.

I've never shot Legion (made peace in 1 out of 3 playthroughs), but from what I've seen, the scene works best if you don't shoot him. The VI though (2 out of 3)? Shoot the bastard as many times as the game allows.

@ Alienboy: You're mistaken on the shooting Legion thing; they're optional interrupts, you're not forced to take them.

I didn't feel bad shooting Wrex though.Image IPB

Good. I don't want to personally kill Legion, I just want to see what my conscience does if the quarian fleet does it for me.

Quickly remind me, the VI?

Heh..oh yeah.  The shooting is all Renegade interrupts, I forgot.  Sorry, I'm use to either going full Paragon or full Renegade so I always think of the interrupts as necessary.  I've never chosen the Quarians over the Geth and not shot him before.  I'll have to do that next time.
