There've been numerous reports of the corrupted saves glitch occurring without the "infinite crystals" exploit. I imagine that said exploit makes the glitch more likely, since it creates a large number of items which are then often dumped onto a single merchant, but it is very possible to activate the glitch and have your entire character permanently deleted without using any exploits.

Seriously, selling worthless crap you loot from dead enemies is the #1 way to acquire/accumulate money, in my experience. This needs a fix.

Yet another case where either my behavior is so different from others or this isn't the real story because I've never had a corruption based on selling too much stuff to any vendor. One corrupt file and it happened so early in the game this ins't possible and it didn't happen in Denerim. Are you people doing some sort of potion->money thing and really dumping a ton of stuff on the vendors because in the normal course of a bunch of games I've never managed this little trick.

I played through once with no problems then the second time *after reading the special edition book thingy* it had mentioned to sell all your items to the vendor in camp, and me thinking oh that's a good idea is when I started to get the corrupted saves, so no I didn't do any of the other freebie glitches where you can get extra gold, I wasn't even aware that there were glitches for that. So with that being said no its not our fault that this happened, but now that I have fixed the problem with my game "being don't sell everything in camp" all is well, that is if you have a previous uncorrupted save you can start from. It seems like such an easy fix for Origins but apparently not

Oh yeah and I collect everything and sell it! I mean everything, so maybe I just accumulated waaaay to much junk

What I am getting from the OP post, EA CS is dealing with actual Game Defects. I.E. broken discs, faulty discs, etc.. Meaning the physical portion of the game itself. They are expecting you to go through their developer subsidiary for the game mechanics, or software bugs and such. In this case its Bioware. All I could suggest is once the bioware.com site is up and running send an email to one of the @bioware.com contacts if there are any. The URL for bioware's contact page is http://www.bioware.c...e_info/contact/

And yeah EA is known for being complete idiots when it comes to CS, I really wish that Bioware never became part of that company.

I experienced this bug two days ago. It fixed itself though so now I am happily playing again. Just make sure you have tons of saves. I even reached the max.

Maybe this addy can get a better response if you email it instead of EA.

support@bioware.com

Checked the bioware contact page again and it was up.

The only time I've known the game to corrupt saves, is when you use the money glitch, so I imagine it's your own fault.

What is this money/crystal glitch I keep hearing about?  I'd like to know exactly what is it so I can avoid doing it.

Someone should post a topic about all the glitches and bugs, with details in on place, so people can be informed and avoid game killing actions.

Since it seems Bioware, Edge of Reality, EA, or whoever is responsible isn't going to fix anything I think the gamers need to band together and help each other out.  I know the info is out there spread across hundreds of sub-topics and thousands of posts, but someone in the know should take it upon themselves and consolidate all this info in one place so the rest of us can easily find it.

To me this is a lot of the problem. I've not hit any of these bugs people talk about - nerfed quests, merchant limits, etc - so I'm not sure people really do know what they are or aren't talking about or what they are seeing is just part of the problem since I doubt I'm playing this that much differently than people with problems that I should be skating along. Since a lot of the usual bug-a-boos on PC games (hardware) aren't there for us 360 folks there's soemthing more amiss.

I think your idea would be a good idea but I suspect people might find a lot of confusing info.

Mark me down as another one who has corrupt save files. 2nd character, over 50 hours, and yep, it looks like it's the merchant bug. Thanks EA/Bioware. Luckly I was able to recover one of the save files, as I stopped playing soon after triggering the error. Which was, rather likely, the merchant bug error.

I'm rethinking buying any more DLC or the full retail expansion until this is corrected. A bug like this is rather amateur hour... (Sorry, but I work for a software company myself... so I don't suffer things like this gladly)

Do you only sell to a single merchant? I'm serious, I've recovered darn near evetrything in the game but not had this happen. It seems like a pretty easy behavior to avoid but then again since I'm just naturally avaoiding it mayeb that makes it seem easier.

If you work in software then you should know that when users exhibit behaviors outside the realm of your test patterns that things can and do happen and selling everything you find in the game at only one spot likely ins't a scenario I'd have ever thought about testing either. QA isn't 100% and never is unless you work at the software company that uses magic to create their software.

I  do not know if this would help. It is not a game glitch.

1. Check if your game disc is scratched.
2. Check if you have any updates done to your xbox system and delete them.
3. Check to see if you have any have any good saves.
4. make sure your hard drive and/or memory stick is not damaged.

If you have any further need for info you can contact me a grom76@yahoo.com

Um it is a game glitch, I think its pretty much been proven now. I've even tested it  *as others have* multiple times from different saves doing many loads and saves until I sold my last hugh batch of junk to the vendor in camp then bam corrupted saves, and you can correct it just as easily.

Try deleting the profile you used for the game, after you cleaned the cache and reseted your Xbox. Worked for me, but you have to restart from scratch which is too annoying to even bother.

My disk was cracked/damaged out of the box. The crack is on the inner ring and luckily it works fine, but I worry that its eventually gonna come flying out of my DVD drive when it finally busts.
