Well, DA is a great game...but I'm the kind of person that will stop playing hte game if there's some detail that irks him and will mod hte s*** out of it untill that's fixed. And will then add-on everything he thinnks it's worthy.

In short, I'm trying to make a large modification to the game, to improve whatever it's possible to prove and to add whatever seems right and is of quality. This project is not meant to actually change the main plot -merely improve where it can. This also including merging many smaller mods for other people (with approval f'course), creating new content, etc..

Now, I have 10 years of modding experience and I have worked on large mods, sometimes alone, so I'm no stranger to this. However, since I am short on time latetly and want to see this done in this century, I'll welecome any help.

I'll make a list of changes I'd like to make and I'll certanly try to implement as much as I can.
If anyone has any suggestions of what else can be changed, in what way, or comments in general - ask away. I accept all ideas -  NPCs, quests and even new party emembers. (all within reason, naturaly)


LOOKING FOR: Writers, area/level designers...well, any help is welecome :)


The list is as follows:


IN PROGRESS:

- Ancinent ruins area (with some chalenges and custom items) - 50% complete
- Improved Trailer Armor for Leliana (new item, doesn't owerwrite anything) - 70% complete
- new sword models and textures - 30% complete
- changed Alistair hardening lines, so one doens't sound like a douche, but rather reasonable (complete)
- some new items
- possibly allowing Iona to escape (she joins you as a temp party member during highever and you ca meet her in Denerim again) - 90%
- To Randon Howe: Hello.l I'm [charname], you killed my father, prepare to die! (100%)
- talking Shiani into taking care of Amethyne (Ionas daughter...if Iona dies) - 50%
- new recruitable character. An elven mage in the Circle Tower -20%

PLANNED:

- Option at the Anvil of the Void to talk Caridin into returning to Orzamarr.
- recruitable Jowan (invoke the Right of Conscription)
- a recruitable rogue (Lily or Leske..I'm open to suggestions)
- recruitable Cullen (not that we need another fighter...)
- epilogue for dog
- option to throw Loghain in jail
- option to leave Loghains fate up to the Landsmeet (executed if he attacks the landsmeet, thrown in jail otherwise)
- option to spit in Loghains face before beheading him, if city elf.
- expose Loghains betraly at Ostagar, with smart conversation options (and there's enough lines to cobble together a VO for it from Loghain and AL's usual talk)
- option to kill Morrigan (either selling her out to the templars or killing her when she makes the deal)
- telling the Templars Flemeths location (and they kill her for you)
- weapons scale fix
- no armor drops (makes no sense. If the enemy dies, you breached his armor)
- better/smarter loot distribution
- new items icons and longer/better items descriptions(icons mod takes care of the icons, better descriptions are still needed. Purely for the feel)
- changing party positions when conversations turns into an obvious
battle. I hate it when you know (ar assume) there's gonna be blood,
position your party and when you initiate (and end) the discussion,
your party is groupd nice and tight - perfect for the enemy. Basicly
change their position after the convo ends to something more sensible.
- less wolf attacks
- Abominations. Not thertening enough. Everyone fears them, but you
kill them easily. Editing the Circle tower so there's less of them, but
bumping their power.
- Templar boots to drop in the tower
- lowering the party select screen acess restrictions in most areas. It's not fun to have to run trough 3 areas just to change a party member.
- option to skip the Fade sequence
- Al in Denerim during the end battle if you spare Loghian and he storms off.

Attribute and leveling changes

- max attribute value set to 20
- changed starting bonuses for races and classes
- 1 attribute point gained per 4 levels
- no HP increase per levelup
- 200 HP on start (warrior. Other classes changed accordingly)
- constitution adds to stamina and slightly to mana
- spells and talents modified accordingly ( 4 times stronger, since the attribute bonus is 4 times smaller)
- attribute requirements are pretty much the same for all materials

Idea on Loghain convo at the Landsmeet.



After you mention Ostagar and get shewed by Loghain and that noble you get the following options (or you can switch your line of questioning)

PC: The battle plan was yours Loghain!

L: What of it?

Alistair: (whispers) The beacon. The tower.

PC: Was it not your idea to hide your forces and charge into the darkspawn flank once the Tover of Ishal signal was given?

L: Is there a point to your rambling?

PC: The point, my dear Loghain, is that you needed the signal to know when to charge, since you didn't have a overview of the battle from your cover.

Alistair: And if that is so, then you couldn't have seen that the battle was lost and Cailans position overrun.

*murmur from the crowds*

This sound's promising, very promising indeed. The idea of an elven mage companion sound's good, since Elves are a bit understaffed, under-appreciated, and under tyranny's thumb.



I was thinking of names such as Eleria, Anarian, Maheria, something like that.

Generally there are some pretty excellent ideas here, especially some of the dialogue options, such as Caridin returning to Orzammar, and Jowan becoming a grey warden. But not as companions, but support units to save for the Battle of Denerim.

Also, I wonder if the principle were applied to other origins characters. I was thinking of perhaps if Soris of the alienage elves as a possible archer warrior, maybe Lily can be requested from the templars as their version of providing aid if you help the mages, the dalish she-elf Merril of the Dalish tribes for extra arcane support. Fergus Cousland, the PC's brother from the Human noble origin should be found again, perhaps as a quest you have to release him from an oath of fighting Darkspawn in the Korcari Wilds for a tribe of Chasind barbarians. If you chose either Bhelen or Harrowmont, the other can have to option to go topside and lead as the general of the dwarven armies on the surface.
But then again such ideas as I've implied take tremendous amounts of time, I just liked the possibilities.

As for the other ideas, such as the templars killing Flemeth, I'm not sure, perhaos they can serve as allies for when you fight her as a dragon. What's more, if you're going to run with logic and withhold  armour deposits of foes, then try to make it smarter.

- Swords mainly inflict health damage, and therefore less armour damage is done, so a 25% chance of no armour loot.
- Axes have higher critical damage, so there would be a 50% chance of no armour loot.
- Hammers and Mauls deal the mightiest armour damage, so they have the smallest chance of 75%

Alternatively, have it that armour is dropped but it's condition is lower and would therefore have lower armour and defence, but could be repaired at weapn and armour merchant shops, such as Master Wade's, Gorim's, Master Varathorn's, The Ostagar quartermaster, Bodahn Feddic's, ect. But to pay for armour being damaged yet not inflict a great penalty on your overall wealth, maybe have foes drop more coin before they die.

Armor drops doesn't seem like such a big deal. That was just one of my musings and I may not end up putting it in. Still thinking about it.



Made a new decisions. I decided to put the mage in Redcliffe instead of the Circle Tower.



Also, in order not to mess up any stock conversations and scripts, I wont' fiddle with the stock characters. So if I make Jowan joinable, what is going to join you will besicly be a copy character that has his own convo file. Seems simpler and cleaner to do it that way.



Hm...really ought tpo make a project for this.

I would also like to change the fact of Al leaving after you spare Loghain.



I also think you should have the option of performing the dark ritual yourself, but I guess that would change the plot to much.

I have plenty ideas, just need to work on them a bit, so someone else will understand what I mean.



I was trying to make an extension to the dialog where you choose to spare Loghain but I can't get into it. So I will have to figure out how to do that.



As for the ritual, I would like to make it an option to not use Morrigan. You pass the taint anyway so it should be allowed to be between you and your romance, of course that would require male/female.



In other words, I need to find out how to access and modify the plots.



Other recruitables would be nice, but it would also be nice to lift the member restriction. I mean, why go to the trouble of them joining if you can't use them.

IIRC, the ritual is there to ensure the baby gets concieved (Wardens are unlikely) AND that the archdemon soul homes in on it...IIRC. If that is so, then wihtout the ritual and just hte baby, you're still accomplishing nothing.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I don think we got any info except what Morrigan tells you..
I dunno.

Modifiying the singleplayer dialgues and scripts is...tricky, as you can't have 2 copies in the database, so you have to pretty much make all changes in one go and export...or find some creative way of doing it.

I know its most likely more then just conceiving the child on the night before battle, But if you can alter the ritual then maybe Morrigan can teach you how its done as she, as far as I know, only offers as a friend, so as a friend she could also teach you what to do. Like I said, it will probably take to many changing, not to mention the whole plot will be different. I guess I will have to think of something else to have all survive without the ritual.



I guess that if you can spare Loghain without Al leaving you can skip the ritual as you have either one for the job.



I have a standard back-up of the game on a different HD so if I fail the first time I might be able to get back the original. I have a problem getting the dialog itself to even try.

Since I suck at writing female romances(I think), if any of you girls out there want a Jowan or Cullen or whomever romance...start writing ..and I'll see if I can implement it.
Writing the dialogue is simple enough even for a novice with a toolset.

Regarding surviving the ritual..I *COULD* add another GW option...ya know..so you have someone ELSE to sacrifice.

I will try and see if I can make some options for Jowan and Cullen. It will take me some time to figure it out, but it will be a challenge.



I would like to option for another GW or a way around Al leaving after sparing Loghain. I don't like Loghain, but I don't want to loose Al or do the ritual as it is now.



I was trying to make Al join again after he leaves and there is no other way around it, but so far my test area doesn't work yet and I can't get him to show up. I guess it would not fit in the plotsetting anyway.



I will work out some ideas for Jowan and Cullen first and see how that goes.

Your'e free try..we'll see how it turns out.

IMHO, the best approach would be to make new characters, since they're not tied wiht previous VO's - but, tehy don't have hte same emotial attachment with people either. We'll see how it goes. Mix and match a bit, some creative fillding...

Hehe...I figured out how to give them different selection animations...(animation ID taken from anim_base.gda)
Should work with vFx too, but I haven't tested it yet (vfx_base.gda)

Thats great.



I've already written down some basic dialog for Jowan as I know him best, for now it's neutral basis.

Going to do the friend base first, so it's for anyone to use and then I will go through the romance for female.



Once I figure out how to use it in toolset I can try and make it fully work, but for now it's all on paper.

Have you thought of a background story for Jowan and Cullen yet?

It will be needed as the dialog advances in stage, not that I'm at the next stage yet, but it did cross my mind.

If you add Lily to the party what effect will it have on Jowan. Will they talk about what happened? Would it get in the way of romancing Jowan?

Good question..I have no answer there.

If you want to write the dialogue for them, then it's your call. I'm not possesive when it comes to "my" projects. anyone who lends a hand gets a vote, since it's not my project anymore, no? ;)



I can see a few ways it could go. You can get them back together, or even further apart

I take it you got it to work. Thats great.



I've been trying to figure out who she was again.

I did come across her in the Human origin, but as I played female so far I never had her in my room at night.



At least, that's what I was reading, I don't know what happens to her if she isn't in your room at night.

You can get her in your room at night even as a female...at least according to the script. I still haven't tested the script, but it should work :)

Since I'm a little perv, she starts off in her skivies and with a dagger (and gets dressed after you kill the guards). Then she'll follow you around to the exit - note that she can still be killed.



Didn't mess with the cutscene (as far as I can tell, her being hit is NOT part of the cutscene, but the conversation - however, I can't find that specific conversation anywhere), so she gets hit and falls down and the corpse is replaced with a "new" Iona.



If she doesn't die, she will appear in the Alianage next to her daughter.

You can also talk to her daughter and give her $$$ (iregardless of Ionas live/dead status) - f'course, you can talk about more stuff if you're a noble and Iona is alive.



I'm currently trying to add the options to talk someone into adopting her (if Iona is dead)..probably Shiani..maybe the city elf PC father too.
