Unlikely, though I guess travel to and from areas affected would be difficult. Although if it did effect Europe...

Huh, my earlier comment about it being bigger than my country wasn't hyperbole it seems.

Stay safe though, but I'd personally be out in the storm enjoying it. I'd be amped up for a cat 1.

After all... I am part of the landmass between New Orleans and Alabama. :I

You should go do that I promise I won't help you if you need it.

Wow. I just saw some images. On Sky news, there is a crane that is dangerously close to falling.

Stay safe all of you. Brings me back to images of the Tsunami in Japan. Cars to houses just floating down a street. Scary stuff, your entire life just floating by literally.

Seriously, that isn't good at all:http://tg24.sky.it/tg24/mondo/photogallery/2012/10/29/usa_new_york_allagata_sandy_uragano.html#3

"Time for evacuation is now over". That is chilling.

Sandy made landfall near Atlantic City, New Jersey . . oh, about 30 minutes ago, I believe.

*edit - however, here in Long Island and throughout NYC, New Jersey, etc . . . we've been feeling the effects since yesterday . . .last night for me, personally, and getting worse all day.

Lots of wind. Bands of heavy rain. You can hear the wind gusts coming. Like a far away train. Just waiting it out.

I am a little late in commenting so I can only echo what has already been said.
Stay safe everyone.

Where I am in Maryland, it's been fine so far. Just a lot of rain and some strong wind.

Basement flooded(lightly). Two day job to vacuum. Not a real problem.

Rain stopped here. Just gonna have fast winds from this point on.

The rain's about to be someone else's problem.

Getting some heavy wind and a bit of rain, but nothing at the level of the "derecho" earlier this year - hopefully it will stay that way until Sandy finally fizzles out.

Unless you got major puddles, you can probably get away with kicking up the vents and setting up a few box fans.

Saw images of a massive fire, collapsed crane and some major flooding. Has the subways been flooded then?

Stay safe Americans.

Well, it looks like us folks who thought the storm wouldn't amount to much are eating our words. Queens, NY is burning to the ground, the lights are out for six million people, and it's gonna cost up to 20 billion dollars to clean up the mess. So much for it being "just" a Cat 1 hurricane.

@Naughty - Yes, the subways are flooded.
