It's called dragon age. We should get dragons! Since they talked about having a narrative like DA2 where the story span for several years: You start with a small hatchling (like than in the game of thrones TV series) and by the end of the game you have a bigass drake backing you up.

Does Orlais have slaves?  Because I would not want the story to be anything like ASOIAF if it means we're in Slaver's Bay.

Orlais has slavery. But they go to great pains to mask the truth and so their "servants" are very well looked-after. They're more like very expensive pedigree dogs; as Leliana puts it, she's known some elven servants to have servants of their own.

If you're guessing you might as well stop because unless you have proof then it doesn't change anything. The thread was made only to suggest the idea to Bioware. If you don't want griffins in the game just say that, don't try to make up a reason for them not to be in the game when you have no proof.

I want a griffin! I know they're supposed to be extinct, but it's not far fetched to believe that there are still a few flying around somewhere. I'm not asking to be able to fly it, I just want to use it as a companion.

You know, people ask for these things but don't actually think about what that would do to balance and other things. We don't need Griffins. They're extinct. That would be like playing Mass Effect and saying "dude, there should totally be a Prothean squad member!"... Umm. Image IPB

Hmm, I know I read in one of the comics that Isabella said something about "Orlesians hang slavers". I believe it was in Those Who Speak issue 2, where Isabela is interogated about her past.

Then again, the Codex entry about Slavery in the Tevinter Imperium has this to say about slaves "If they're lucky, they end up in Orlais, which has only "servants." Most nobles treat them decently because they are afraid of admitting the truth. Orlesians go to great lengths to maintain the fiction that slavery is illegal."

So I guess the orlesians do have servants that are treated in similar fashion to slaves, but should anyone be caught actually owning or trading in slaves there would be a whole lot of commotion. All about reputation and apperances I suppose.

It wouldn't do anything to the balance; the griffin would play a similar role to the dog.

You also make a good point in your post. It was less likely there would be a prothean squadmate in ME3 then a griffin in DA3.

well tbh the dragopns were thought to be extinct and there were a few of em in both origins and #2. maybe there are griffons still alive, it's not known whether the entire planet of thedas has been discovered yet. not that i can recall anyways, and lets not forget the deep roads as well. what about arlathan? what i'm trying to say is, there could be undiscovered lands and islands where griffons still survive.

Dragons are diferrent. Reptiles have faster reprroduction. Dragons are basically flying rats in DA: Universe. Unless there's living a small population, griffons won't be returning unless the Maker says otherwise.

I have an important question: Is it griffins, griffons, gryphons or are all correct?

This is the same thing like with Reapers. Some people just don't get it. When in ME1 they told you , you can't beat the Reapers, everyone is shocked in ME3 that you can't beat the reapers...

The Gryphons are dead. All of them are dead. Period. Get it to your head.

Actuallt, you can beat Reapers. But the galaxy wasn't unprepared. Even with an army of 100.000 dreadnoughts, they would probably loose do to Reapers firepower.

That's what people said about dragons and yet they aren't gone. People also said all the protheans were dead when they weren't. Before ME3 people wanted a prothean squad and people said they're gone and it would never happen.

You don't know for sure they're all gone so please don't act like you do.

Can you link me to where it said that's the reason Dragons survived? I must have skipped over that codex entry. I'm also impressed that you knew off the top of your had that griffins don't have fast reproduction. Again, I must have skipped over that codex entry

That are a big number of Dragon Cults in Thedas. They are revered and their reproduction is very fast:

Let's not forget they are also hard to kill.

That doesn't change much. You still don't know how fast griffins reproduce or how they can escape predators. There's a good chance there are still some griffins hiding somewhere in the world; it's not as if the wardens captured them all.

It's Griffon.

Anyway they're extinct, let them stay extinct. Jeez, BioWare already brought the 'extinct' Protheans back with Javik in ME3. If they bring back Griffons in Dragon Age, then apparently extinct species not being extinct will be the next new BioWare cliche.
