I dunno about Griffons. Bioware has stated (both in game and on the forums) that they aren't planned for any appearances.

The new PC could maybe take up Hawkeing. Would that be close enough?

At some point in DA3 your party is going to be fighting a losing battle and just when you think you going to bite it, the warden andHawk are going to ride in on griffons to save you.

They used to say dragons were extinct, too. I think part of the distinction though is that it reached a point that the only griffins left were those in captivity (like pandas)... it is a lot easier to confirm "yep, they're all dead" in that case.

I wouldn't mind seeing one, but I wouldn't want them to be a part of the party or a mount or anything. The first thing you do when you see a previously extinct species is not to do what contributed to its decreased numbers in the first place. "Whoa! A griffin! Let's domesticate it and make it a mount in wartime!". Real-world equivalent would be "Whoa! A moa! Let's hunt and eat that mofo, bet they're DELICIOUS."

It's not as outlandish as ME3 and Javick. There are still regions in the DA universe that haven't been explored so who can really say ALL the griffons are dead? I'm sorry, but saying they're all dead seems more far fetched then saying there may be some alive some where.

I never said that Javik made sense either.

Even if there are no griffons in actual Thedas, why can't there be any in the Fade? There could be a Fade sequence where the main character (or another) meets/rides/finds a griffon. Especially if Corypheus is in the game. That involves the Wardens and something so powerful it will surely use the Fade somehow.

That sounds awesome, but I want my own Griffon to tear my foes to tiny little pieces then feed it her offspring after mashing it up in her mouth.
