But otherwise...I find it fascinating that people are so interested in pixel procreation.

I won't comment or go on a rant on the issue and how it went down in the first game. You already know what that was about. Ugh.
But in the second it was the exact opposite, if Female Hawke and Anders or Male Hawke and Isabela or Merrill are together and having sex for three years, isn't it pretty darn likely they'd have gotten pregnant during that time? (and don't say anything about Anders being a Warden, the first game tells us loud and clear that Wardens are still perfectly capable of reproducing with a non-Warden. And like I said, it's the same thing with Isa/Merrill.)
Reproduction in Thedos is weird. I'm confused here.
Honestly, I think it's the excessively long span of the plot that messed it up... I think the next game should be a bit less extreme. Then things might make slightly more sense.
It also says that is very, very hard and that the only Wardens with children Alistair knows had them before one of the parents became a Warden.
In any case, I wouldn't be surprised if Isabela had something to stop herself from becoming pregnant - herbs and such.

Isabela and Fenris might have problems too, her naturally and him due to all the lyrium he has in his body.
Would Merrill even want a elven blooded human child?

lol. I really think the best answer to this topic is: "It's a video game."
That, too. The writers may simply not care about writing children, or forcing them on players, so they never really come up.

lol. Exactly. I mean, why didn't Mario and Princess Peach have a baby?!
Same concept, different characters, and still just as silly.

They had sex? I didn't know that.

It just didn't happen? Some couples are together for many years, with unprotected sex, without ever conceiving a child.
QFT
With that said, as I played DA2 and the years passed by and by... I did wonder if it would have been neat to have an optional family storyline going. You know shacked up with Aveline, cute red head babies running around. And yes, AVELINE! Those hips are made for babies. Plus, damn the writers for making the only non-crazy female not romancable. AVELINE FTW.
Umm. Yeah. Rant done.

I don't want to get too involved in this awkward *** topic, but mario and peach weren't rpg characters, they were puzzle platform characters. The op is asking... for a child similar to Aerie in Bg2.

Romance the child? No!
Have a child as product of the romance? Yes!

This.
It works out like this:
If they made it possible for Hawke to have a child, that would have to be a very front-and-center storyline. When you have a child, nothing is more important. So the story would have to be written such that the child was meaningful and relevant. But, what about the Hawkes who never romanced anyone? Or who romanced same-gender? Would you FORCE a child onto those Hawkes, via adoption or something? Because otherwise, you have to write, record, and develop two practically different Act III's. I don't see that happening.

Day 1: "Let me romance my sister."
Day 2: "You mean a child you can romance?"
Conversations take the strangest of turns!

Anders and FemHawke makes sense since Anders is a Warden. And I imagine there's contraception in Thedas.
Read what I said about that. Absolute rubbish.
Warden in the first game had no problem knocking up Morrigan in a timespan of, what, months? Without the aid of any magic...
Actually without the aid of magic and the dark ritual, the OGB can't be conceived, and that is the only way ever Morrigan gets pregnant. Grey Wardens very very very rarely ever have children after the Joining.

The warden and morrigan have a normal child together if they made love at least once throughout the whole game.

Morrigan gets pregnant if the Warden sleeps with her at any point, even if you don't do the Dark Ritual.

If you didn't agree with Morrigan about the DR and you romanced her, she has a baby with the Warden. It's shown in the epilogue slides.
