I always theorised that Isabela was infertile.

I would bet on it.

Look at how she reacts to the Rivani fertility idol gift you give her.

I made a thread about that ages ago and everyone was just like, "no you're reading too much into this". Thanks for agreeing with me sort of. Image IPB

But you are reading too much into it given she reacts the same way if Lady Hawke gives her the idol...

Hey this reminds me of that futanari fic I read based around the idol....

Bioware is too scared to touch incest, they don't have the balls to stand up to EA and their ridiiiiculous censorship. Incest was rampant in medieval times!!! If only DA2 were as dark, gritty, and realistic as DA:O. Preorder cancelled.

I just assumed the man (Hawke or Anders) was so paranoid that he just pulled out every time.

The pull out method doesn't work every time. I have friends in a relationship who tried that years ago and now they have a fourteen-year-old kid...

I realize you're poking fun, but in response, and in all seriousness, I wish EA would allow BW to get away with character nudity where it is perfectly natural for them to be nude, like sex scenes. Underwear sex in DA:O and even worse, that fully-clothed shower scene in ME 3 were just downright embarassing; it would have been better to just not include those scenes than give us what we got. Do they really care that much about what a crappy, disreputable news network like Fox has to say about it?

I doubt Fox or EA's opinion has anything to do with it. Video game nudity just looks weird, and Bioware is aware of the cost of making it look not-weird. I realize we can be talking about two different things -- nudity as in "genitals on screen" or nudity as in "implied nudity" where no nipples/genitals appear on screen. It's a topic for a different thread but I often wonder which people are asking for.

Anders and FemHawke makes sense since Anders is a Warden. And I imagine there's contraception in Thedas.

Read what I said about that. Absolute rubbish.

Warden in the first game had no problem knocking up Morrigan in a timespan of, what, months? Without the aid of any magic...

Morrigan was TRYING to have a baby.   She may have very well used some trick taught to her by Flemeth to increase her fertility.

Let's see what Sheryl Chee (Isabela's writer) has to say on the subject, shall we?

Isabela's comments in one of her Act III companion quests involving a fertility necklace, suggest that she is barren, an area of sadness and resentment for her. This would explain why her numerous sexual encounters never resulted in conception.

Let's say someone from another culture gave me a string of lion teeth. And let's say in my culture, a string of lion teeth is meant to increase the virility of men, and the size of their... feet. I'd say to them, "Ahaha. Did you not know that in my culture, this increases virility and foot size?  You joker, you."

Does not mean I want bigger feet.

...WTF?
Just...what.the.heck.

Are we seriously talking about why Hawke never got his LI pregnant/was impregnated by her LI? Oh well, I've seen weirder threads.

On topic: Never was a problem for me, always went the s/s route.
And I imagine if Anders can heal STDs, contraception is not much more of a challenge.

Because Bioware focuses on story-based roleplaying games and having a child who is actually tied into the story [and everything that implies] is major content.

It is also simply just too much for the fans, who want everything to be completely under their control. A child in a Bioware game is big content. Content a lot of people won't see because they either A) Don't like kids, or B) Don't care for the plotline.

So you've got a lot of voice work, content, etc, that a lot of people won't or don't want to see.

See: Old God Baby.

If done right, it could be mighty cool if your Inquisitor has a child at some point, and that child was then the main character in the next game. Obviously that could've worked with Hawke and DA2, or the Warden in DAO as well, but looking forward its still a good idea. It wouldn't have to disadvantage somebody who never played the game, they'd still be able to create their character from scratch, but it'd be a cool import, the name, maybe the class you trained it as, already pre-selected, and an instant 'origin' all right there. It would also be reasonable if it was given a bit of a stat boost as well, sort of a bonus for playing the previous game, but obviously that could go either way.

Of course you could ask, but what about when my female Inquisitor has a child with Cassandra, or whoever else the female LIs might be, how would that work? I'd just say magic, Flemeth and Morrigan seem to know some pretty powerful magic to help you have children when you otherwise couldnt, others must know it as well, I'd just say that at some point in the game you find some old mage who has the knowledge, and they help you have a child. Whether the child is involved in DA3 itself in some way (such as by being kidnapped or some such) or is just referred to only, you would pick the gender, the class, and maybe have a side-quest where you can find a really high quality trainer for the child, so that when DA4 rolls around it has a stat boost of some kind. That type of thing would be really cool if done right, both for the romances in DA3 as well as for a really neat import option for the next game.

Yes, it's very strange how America is the only country in the world — nay, the only nation in the history of the entire human race — that has ever had a taboo about nudity. The prudes!

This is no doubt the one and only reason why we don't have lifeless collections of pixels awkwardly rubbing up against each other in cheesy sex scenes while elven porno music blares in the background. WHY MUST YOU MAKE MY IMAGINATION DO THE WORK, BIOWARE?

It's part of the whole downward spiral from the mediocre heights the thread started from.
