Please make weapons not look silly!

Not talking about graphics only, but other stuff that really should be done to improve immersion, and one of these is armor and specially weapon looks and behavior. I definitedly don´t want my character to roll like Geralt, but swords there (well, almost everything to be honest) fell pretty realistic. In DAO I´ve created an elven character as a two handed warrior and I´ve noticed... the greatsword is big, SO BIG, that the elf could probably do pole jumping with it (gold medal for sure, pity the Olympics ended).
Swings and blows in DAO are well done, but parrying and other moves could be improved a bit as well. I didn´t play DA 2 but one of the things I´ve read that really made me lose interest was how silly character moves were, with swords that seemed as light as fly swatters.

Length isn't the only measurement in size, JCAP. See how thin and lean that blade is?

See the video again, and look at the longsword (not the katana)

We see so many times "fat" swords from the games that many actually think that is the real size of the sword, but in the real world, they are thin.
And fast.
For some reason, a lot of people think that medieval-era swords are thick and cumbersome.

You really think that comes close to the ginormous foamy Dragon Age blades?
Aulis, that sword in the video, is a longsword, the sword of the photo and that we are talking about, is a greatsword.
The greatsword is longer than the longsword, but they are thin.

I think Aulis was trying to say that DA:O had fat swords, which is why they weren't comparable in size to the picture which had a thinner sword.

Eh, as long as it looks like they can actually lift and swing the thing I'm okay if they decide to go crazy with the art style.
This. If we see Formula Fantasy style stupid weapons, they better be like crazy magical and have their own story.

Okay, this is silly, but, what are you trying to point out?
Because all I've been saying is that realistic swords are thinner and leaner. But now it's looking like you're just trying to say the same...
