Doesn't Sten kinda imply that sex with a Qunari is extremely painful for non Qunari?

Oh no, it's another one of those weird "I want to romance a qunari" threads.

I picture a Female Qunari on a Dwarf rather disturbing, I think there will be nothing left off the Dwarf when she is finished with him.

Just be glad the Dragon Age universe doesn't contain species of radically different size. Yes, dwarves are shorter and all, but their torsos and build are very similar to humans.

Whereas things like gnomes and goblins, when paired with giants and trolls...

I would like it if the LI was encouraging and helpful to the protagonist rather than always be the other way around (helping Morrigan, helping Merrill).

Though I did like the whole "im interested, we can't do this, oh my duty and personal feelings are conflicting" thing with Morrigan.

So much this. People always wonder why every LI would just fall in love with the hero, but I think the better question is "Why would Hawke fall in love with any of them when all they ever do is beg for her/his help?". xD
Sometimes I'd just like the LI to take a moment to ask "Hey, are you allright?" and not be fooled by a simple "Yeah, sure".

That´s an amazing point. I like that idea very much :)

None of the DA II romances ended in sex. Not one.

Are you referring to the fact that the romances "end" in Act 3 before the final fight where you get to talk to them, or that "As we do not see any sex, it did not necessarily happen"?

My favorite Bioware romance is Bastilla. Not because I like her character (she was pretty good, but kinda annoying at times) but because it was so important to the story. The main plot included HUGE points that involved the Revan/Bastilla romance and that made it feel more a part of the story rather than just something tacked on.

Also why I liked romancing Alistair or marrying Anora (not really a romance but w/e). They were tied into the main story too. I loved that Alistair dumped my Elven Mage because he was King and needed an Heir and an 'Acceptable Wife'. Morrigans romance sadly didnt tie into the main story as much as it could have since even if you arent romancing her the Dark Choice thingy happens the same. Leliana and Zev were the most removed from the main plot and so were so-so for me.

DA2 had NO romances that added to the main plot. Even Anders does nothing different if you romance him. Big step backwards.

ME romances were generally also disconnected from the main story (Liara is kinda an exception, but even that wasn't as good as it could have been).

Romances in these games should be interwoven with the story as far as I am concerned. They should feel relevant to what happens, and have maybe some kind of impact on the plot.

I do not really want "dates" or anything like that if I am being perfectly honest. I want an RPG with engaging (not engaged, you crazy people) characters and an engaging plot. Romances can make this happen to an extent, but they need to fit in, not stand out.

Simply put, if I wanted a dating game, I'd go play one.

I felt Liara was a good example of how a romance could fit in with the plot if they had chosen to do it. In Mass Effect 3 when she shows the 'memory box' she made to record all data on the Reapers and the war involving them, they could have made that scene have more of an impact for Shepards who romanced her by changing some of the dialogue around to reflect it.

That'd be a good example of plot relevant romance.

Agreed.^_^

And this coming from someone who loves the bioware romances. His forum name doesn't help alleviate the akwardness of the post any either.

He played with a kitten and wants to introduce cookies to the rest of the Qunari. But no, a joke to get Morrigan to leave him alone is just impossible. Image IPB

Oooookay, so first things first; @Sternchen, I suppose I'll let you off the hook, love; since I was told the thread is not a duplication. lol :kissing:

Now for the thread; it seems a lot of you simply looked at the title and made comments (Because I HOPE that you did not reach some of these conclusions after actually reading my post......but, I would not be surprised )

This is NOT about having a dating sim (I dislike dating sims to be honest); this is simply a suggestion to "tweak" what will already be there anyway. This is a Bioware game, so the WILL be romance whether you like it or you do not. The conversations for romance will already be there; I was merely saying those conversations should be changed  up a bit so to make a romance with certain characters a bit more difficult than others. What's so creepy about that? This is not asking for a "sex scene" I could care less about that, but then again, I don't really care if romance is in at all (I already have the perfect romance and life companion after all; and she's amazing); I was only stating some things that could make the romances that WILL be in the game, a bit deeper.

As for people talking romance between a dwarf and qunari......where did that come from??? I didn't even HINT at this at all. Also, no, this isn't another "Qunari romance thread" I used these example because people are split about these two as romances and I used that to show that this can be touched upon in coversation in the game.

For people saying I need to get out more......I can assure that I get out more than most here, no worries there, trust me ;)

So good folks; before calling someone creepy; actually READ their post.....and if you are not sure you understood it properly; read AGAIN. 'Tis excellent advice I assure you. Take care :)

People will always quickly jumpt to conclusions like that. This is the BSN afterall.

As for those folks, they completely missed the point of this topic. The OP's asking for deeper relationships as in the meaning of relationships being more complex than a few lines, a quest for help and then a sex scene.

Sometimes certain relationships aren't that easy to achieve. Prime example of this are the LGBT relationships. People in such relationships experience a lot of issues in real life (also with the controversy that is unfortunately still hanging around such relationships) so why not make the relationship reflect this a bit and have characters interact with you about your relationship more? There could be a character that is a bit doubtful and uneasy about your same-sex relationship, but you could have the option to convince him/her and make him/her understand better, which also improves your friendship with said character.

The same goes for a relationship between different races, which also seems to be a taboo, such as a relationship between a dwarf and an elf, or a relationship between a human and a Qunari, as pointed out by the OP. It goes without saying that such relationships come together with their own unique difficulties and it would be interesting to add some of these issues to the relationship. It would make the relationship much more deeper and interesting instead of a few shallow lines and a quest.

To summarize, NO, this topic isn't about wanting to be able to bang a female Qunari, it was about more complex and 'richer' relationships (which even do not always have to end in a sex scene).

you got the point Ivy :) maybe, the devs should work together with the modder of Dragon Age Origins. They had some nice ideas, to make relationships more demanding. Also, the actual romances "end" at most with sex.. that´s sad, it shouldn´t be the goal anway. After having sex, the relationship is kinda boring, no more "working" on it.

It's obvious to me that male Dwarf and female Kossith would make it less deep.

You need the other way around, female Dwarf and male Kossith to make it deep.

Isabella had a pretty 'deep' romance. If both metaforical and realistic way.
