Jovian is derived from my first name, and middle and surname initials: Joe, V, N. JoeVN.

Also, I like the number nine. :D

George Carlin was touring several years ago and at the dinner table, my mom mentioned the show but called him "Rob Carnage", so I started using that online, and after awhile people on another board I post on started calling me "Bob Garbage". Good times.

Mine sounds stupid, but it is to keep myself grounded no matter where life takes me, to remind me of my origins.
My older brother and I were orphaned at a young age. We were mistreated at the orphanage we ended up at, so we decided to run away, also fearing we'd never be kept together even if we were adopted. We lived a pitiful life of petty theft (mostly for food) and found it hard to keep ourselves safe on the street.

Things changed when we came across a plumbing store. During that time, toilets were high in demand, especially with the newly released bidet models. We actually started to make a sustainable life by stealing toilets and selling them on the black market. In other words, we found our way off the streets by "Jacking Crappers"

From there, we were able to find respectable jobs when we were of age into the world of plumbing.

Actually, that never happened, but it's what I like to tell people. I have had this nick ever since I started playing online MP games (starting with Starsiege Tribes 1, the best game I ever played, which all evolved around a single bug). I guess I was supposed to be a descendant of the great Thomas C Crapper or something. I just picked it on a whim. The real explanation is anticlimactic. Sorry.

Well, even to this day, my best friend whom I've known for 31 years refers to me as "Jack" or "Crapper," and I still call him "Baxter"

T1 you say? Demo servers or full? I played both as Matrix Shocke and Mr PigglyWiggly. I feel like I saw a name like yours on there, about 12 or so years ago?

Wow, flash from the past.  Dunno about Demo servers, but we used to play on a league (don't remember which one).  Team Fusion was the team.

Good times, good memories.  We used to play from the beginning, during the IE heyday (remember [IE] Natural?), 5150 days, and a bit past then, too.  God, it must have been 13 or 14 years ago.

That was one of the first games with character animations, smack talk, and crouch, which I used to invent T-Bagging.  I didn't consider it T-Bagging at the time.  It was more like a necrophiliac move, where I'd hump the enemies I'd exterminated.  I am not proud of this accomplishment.

Oh yeah I remember IE, 5150, 253, 5000 etc.. played with almost all of them at one point but I was a dueler mostly.

I just googled some of that old stuff hoping my videos were still online  ( TWL ) from 2002. Sadly not much is left. It looks like the ladders got chopped so I can't even show you my Duel days skill.

TWL Ghosts... and a shoutout from someone who remembered my dueling from over 10 years ago, wow!

The official T1 TBagging was a crouch on the deceased while spinning multiple times looking up and tossing grenades. I would usualy throw in a Shazbot or two or a "You got knocked the **** out!" from the voice packs. If I had a PC I would download the demo and duel you on Raindance.

Back on topic slightly... that was about one or two games before I used the handle Razerath, althought that was my AOL IM name then.

p.s. You might find this funny. Tribes and role playing mixed.

I was in a CS clan with the name Barney since we were cartoon based names, for some reason I have no idea I went with Fred Flintstones friend Barney.

I didn't use the nickname that much outside of that but used my really old online nickname Kilroy instead.

But for different reasons that I dont really remember I started using Barney more and more in different places, and then at one place Barney was taken and I just put a k at the end from my previous nickame. And then it just sort of became my standard name since it was usually available.

So, Barneyk is my main online nickname nowadays. :)

Opa is German for Grandfather. It's what my grandkids call me although none of them speak German. I speak very little myself as I haven't had anyone to speak German with for many, many years.

My Origin ID is OhPa. I spelled it that way so English speakers would pronounce it correctly. OhPa2 is due to an EA server issue when they were setting this all up. I got an error message saying OhPa was already taken - yeah, by me!

There used to be a gimmick on Cartoon network where there were four factions that viewers would vote on to "Control the Channel". One of them (A decently cool looking ninja-dude) was named "Shadowmark". The gimmick lasted like, 2 weeks, but I loved the name a lot and tried to use it online and "Shadowmark" was taken. So, since I was half going through the Goth stage (Cause I'm cool like that, yo), I stuck "Dark" onto the end. The name stuck. And now I'm 19 with a name from when I was 13. Lol.

I don't really know- I guess it sounds a bit like Thor's hammer, Mjolinir, but I didn't mean that when I made it. I now like the monolithic way it looks and sounds.

It also sounds very different, so it's easy for me to figure out when someone is trying to talk to me in-game. Just listen for the gargling noise.

If I could change it, though, I'd go for EUReKA. In a heartbeat. :)

DarkOrgasm was inspired by Reapers coming from Dark Space and Harbinger assuming direct control with the Collectors of ME2 in the process.

When you see a Collector becoming possessed, that's a Reaper Dark Orgasm

Enders Game is a book I really enjoyed. 98 is the year I started high school. Its just there since I got in the habit of adding numbers to names since some of my previous ones were already taken.

Saint Sabbat(ine) from the Gaunt's Ghosts Warhammer 40K novels.

She is a reincarnated saint of great power in the 40K universe and destroyed a Baneblade super heavy tank with a single attack from her mundane sword. She has been killed twice and reincarnated both times though the amount of time between reincarnations vary greatly (many years for the first, couple hours for the second). Name just felt appropriate for a video game involving the possibility of death.

I joined BSN awhile ago for whatever reason, and randomly typed in my current name, as I was too lazy and unimaginative to come up with anything else. I kinda wish I could change it.

As for my GT, the "Assassin" part came from my favourite game at the time, AC2, while "051" is the numerical designation of a Spartan in Halo who happens to share my real name.

Ender's Game was an awesome book. I didn't realize anyone else knew about it. But maybe that's just 'cause of the people I hang out with.

The tagline for the American version of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" was "What is hidden in snow comes forth in the thaw".

It was clever and thought provoking. I was simultaneously thinking about video games while thinking about the tagline, and realized that most games I play involve a large-scale conflict, and how small the main character seems when he/she is involved (Shepard for example), thus the character is hidden in the fires of battle.
