We pretty much waist our time fighting each other, instead of focusing on the big issue that could wipe out all life, so not working together and trying to stop an event that could kill a lot of us is bad, working together and using the tech we have from the previous civilization to solve a life or death situation for everyon on Earth is good.

But still... a solar flare?

I liked ME3's ending and that ending was bad, at least in ME3 you got to choose which option you like. And no, with the EC vanilla ending no longer counts as an ending critique.

Anyway, so I don't get to choose whether I want to pick juno or minerva. Why the **** not?

Honestly I would be more upset if Desmond was more involved in the game than he was.

But since he's not, I don't care about Desmond or his part of the story

At least you knew to expect way-out-there BS plot twists from this series, and the introduction of these godlike glowing things were already part of the series.

Also, AC never really gave you the illusion of choosing your own path.

if the ending is as bad as the OP says and they do make a DLC that changes the ending will that start a bad trend just like the gaming exsperts say or should they stick to there artistic integraty?

Spoiler: Its working with an enemy of Humanity and handing over control to one of those that came before us, but it saves Humanity from a cycle of continuous extinction by solar flares and the fight between Templars vs. Assassins to continue based on differences of interpretations, so Bad guy pretty much wins, but again their atleast was no illusion that you were in control and barely much attachment to Desmond, he was more a back seat driver, but yeah not hero like ending.

I think it's less Bad Guy Wins and more like Heroes' Temporary Setback until the next installment, much like The Empire Strikes Back.

ESB was the second instalment. AC3 is the fifth game!<_<

Solar flare wiped out the previous civilization and apparently always will unless it gets attention from Humanity, If the assassins and Templars weren't always at each others throats about how to use the Technology and trying to make each other fail all the Time-always fighting/history reapeating itself over and over-then Cooperation might be achieved and better all of Humanity, maybe discover all the things Desmond learned earlier on and find out what the previous civilization did to try to deal with the problem and advance from there, but yeah they decided to fight, fight, fight, and focus on how the .PO.E, not on what could be a problem for all life on Earth and how to deal with that issue.

Anyways that B*tch Juno stopped it and now pretty much has some trick up her sleeve to control all Humans, but yeah Bad guy wins, for now I think.

What's your point? A bad ending is bad, doesn't matter if it was for an rpg, open world, or even a shooter.

A bad ending is bad, I don't see how the choice thing matters.

You know, I tolerated a lot from AC with its hastily slapped together pseudoscience and its pretentious Dan Brown-tier conspiracy theories, but this sh*t is too much.

Good thing the series was so milquetoast to begin with, or I might have found this something other than funny.

I don't play the AC games, but I was thinking about picking them up if I heard good things about AC3.

Looks like that's going to be a no then.

That was my outlook too. I haven't played the AC games but I was going to give it a shot until now.

And I'm reading the 8th book of a series, what's your point?

A series isn't required to follow formula, you can have a much larger multipart story. Also, ESB is techincally the 5th movie as well.

Anyway, ending sucks, won't stop me from killing brits and jumping off ****. XD

The number of the installment doesn't matter. The literary comparison is apt. It's the midpoint of a story where the bad guy is winning and basically the Darkest Before the Dawn. Read some books.

For me, ME3's ending was bad on multiple levels.  It was a bad for one because it was poorly written.  However, it also was bad because it threw out some of the most important themes from the series.  None of the player's choices really mattered, as everyone got the same ending minus color.  It also introduced an important character in the last 10 minutes.

AC on the other hand appears to only be bad for being poorly written and just dumb.  Now I've only played AC2, but the ending to that game was similar in its outlandishnish, so I wasn't surprised when I saw glowing godlike figures in AC3s ending.  Now since I haven't played any AC games since, maybe this ending really is as bad for the AC faithfull, but to me it doesn't appear to fail on as many levels.

Probably ME fans.  AC fans are largely pretty weathered to nihilistic, philosophically out-there endings where bad things happen outside their control.

The death of Lucy Stillman, anyone? That surprised and pissed me off. But I'm still playing, I guess. Hollywood endings are cliche anyway.

To be fair, AC's ending is just stupid and poorly written. ME's ending was stupid, poorly written, thematically inconsistent, and a whole other mess of problems that have been discussed to death. Nonsensical beings of light already had a presence in Assassin's Creed, so if anything, one would point at ACII for the series derailment.

You know, if AC ever had a rail.

Edit:

It matters because I've been playing these games in the hopes we'd find a way to save the Earth only to be told in the fifth game that your efforts were useless all along. If that was the point of Desmond's story, they could've gotten it across much sooner.
