The only characters who should return are the PC and Morrigan... Im hoping the sequel will be along the lines of the PC tracking down Morrigan through the mountains and into Orlais where they are reunited after Flemeth catches up with Morrigan (perhaps the PC senses her to be in distress and calling for him/her to aid her through the ring) to take revenge but instead takes the god child for herself to do her evil bidding :) resulting in the PC and Morrigan joining forces to stop the horror they created from entering and destroying Ferelden with its army of something bad maybe a return of the darkspawn under Flemeth occupied god child.
Along with plenty of other goodies such as a Qunari invasion of Ferelden which must be resolved before Alistair/Anora can send troops to aid in this task. Where we meet Sten once more but this time on the battlefield.

Of course this wont happen because I am a mere fan who could only dream to be involved in such a project and Bioware has plenty of top notch writers, who I trust not to disappoint :) But yeah aslong as it has plenty of Morrigan dialogue and the option to further develop a relationship between the 2 characters I shouldnt be disappointed as I thought it was one of if not the best  part of DA:O

I just don't understand.... Why do so many people think her role is so critical to the story? Its not. David Gaider even said that.. They will not make a sequel based on Morrigan. Just let it go. She may be in there, since Bioware said we haven't seen the last of her, but her role is not going to be as central as you make it out to be. What happens to those who didn't romance her? I guess no sequel for them huh?

Maybe because alot of people find her backstory and dialogue throughout the game to be the most interesting of all the companions? And the best set up to return as she is either seen wandering the mountains or in Orlais during the epilogue.  I certainly found learning about her upbringing much more enjoyable than say Leliana or Zevrans backstory. I would say Alistair was also very interesting to talk to but they haven't left much in the way for him to return as he is either Dead/King/A Drunk or rebuilding the Grey Wardens in Ferelden with the only real choice out of those which would make sense to return being the last of those I listed. So as much as I hope he returns I wouldn't bet on it.

Anyway In the post you quoted I only posted what I desired the story to be like, which it won't. The 2 characters I predicted to return are PC and Morrigan the 2 who's story are left open (for the most part) and because I cant see a  jump of several decades into the future working, but we will see.

I'm pretty much with Freckles on this one.   Especially in regards to your comments about The Calling / Dragon Age / Blights, I'm very much with you on that train of thought since a certain someone(thing) knows the locations of ... stuff.  *trying not to spoil the book for anyone*

I don't think a sequel will be as far in the future as many people think, which means I think you'll be able to play as your Warden if you chose Morrigan's ritual.  I also don't think it would be that difficult to have you play as a new Warden in a sequel and tie it into the first game, just look at ME2.  Not only that, but I'm pretty sure we'll see a few familar faces with any new ones we get (again ala ME2).  I'd be surprised if we didn't see the majority of them back.  (But I won't balk if we get new companions!)

About the only ones I doubt we might see could possibly be Wynne, Sten and Shale.  I think they pretty much tied up their stories with a neat little bow at the end.
