Do you agree? If not, discuss.

I remember way back when Muzyka said Bioware were going to take from Skyrim for DA3. They should do the same for this game. Seriously, TW2 is a fantastic RPG. Too much of an RPG, according to some of my friends.

If you haven't played and researched this game, Bioware developers, you definitely should.

Take what from Witcher 2? Also many on the team have played both Witcher 2 and Skyrim. What specifically are they to take from Witcher 2?

Yes. There are BioWare developers who have heard of the Witcher, and many who have played it.

1. How to make a great RPG.
2. How to respect your fanbase.
3. How to take criticism.

The thread should be titled "What Bioware can learn from CD Projekt".

Things I liked about the witcher 2:

- Choices with mutually exclusive outcomes
- Dynamic lighting
- The use of color in its art style
- The amount of lore

Things I did not like about the witcher 2:

- The combat
- How immutable the characters were
- The treatment of women
- The UI
- The crafting system
- The potion system
- The voice acting
- The armor design
- How they handled the save import from the first game
- The gambling system
- The brawling mini game
- The quick time events

I hope they don't take the bland expressionless characters and crappy combat system from the Witcher 2.

12 minutes and this hasn't devolved into a discussion on sexism in games? I believe that might be a new record for the BSN.

I was going to post a list myself but you pretty much summed exactly my thoughts (the voice acting was decent in Polish though). I'd also add a fixed male protagonist to the list of minuses, especially if we're talking about what influences Dragon Age should adopt and which to avoid.

You know what I am getting really tired of seeing any threads on Bioware forums about CD Projekt and Witcher 2. This is like fifth thread I have seen with either Witcher 2 or CD Projekt in the title.

On a serious note: Combat in Witcher 2 is kind of a real chore. On harder difficulties fighting 3+ plus things is not fun you can get locked and or pretty much spammed to death. Also despite me actually liking the darker mature fantasy theme I do agree that women weren't portrayed very well. Though I really enjoyed Saskia and thought her character was well done.

The first Witcher was great, the second one was a decent...half...of a game, I guess. It did look gorgeous though, yes.

As long as CD Projekt keept cranking out top notch, high quality RPGs and treating its fanbase with respect, you'll keep seeing them mentioned around here favorably.

Disagree - Tw and the Tw2 contain horrendous stigmas regarding female promiscuity. Bioware doesn't need to learn anything from trash like that.

The quality is... meh. Largely for the reasons hoorayforicecream mentioned. Including the fixedly male protagonist.

Bioware is not CD Projekt or Bethesda.. Bioware is Bioware..

Can we stop putting emphasis on posing as something else?

Haha, whatever. Don't be mad that CD Projekt commands (and deserves) more respect than Bioware.

For reasons that Bioware is already trying to do and if not has already done. I wouldn't call Witcher 2 high quality except it does look pretty and the dark fantasy bit is pretty good but thats about it. (I did a quick reedit of the post you quoted off of me)

Yes, cause Witcher 1 was awesome right...? Posted Image Don't get on such a high horse when they too had issues just like Bioware and every other developer.

Perhaps it'll deserve more if it can expand beyond novel-slaved garbage.

Witcher 1 was excellent for their very first outing, Witcher 2 blew that one away, and I'm pretty sure they've yet to produce their own opus, as Bioware did with Baldur's Gate 2.
