I could see where it could be misleading, but the way things are structured are thus: Challenges (such as 50,000 points with Ballistic Blades), Masteries (such as Blood Pack Mastery), and Mastery Categories (General, Alien, Weapon). Earth Mastery isn't "Survivor Challenge" just because the banner for Earth Mastery has the title "Survivor".

I foresee a lot of people unlocking squad elite at the same time when the fix for this rolls out. Or is it possible this will be fixed before this weekend?

Fixing it with the balance changes maybe? Hopefully it is similar to the other challenge issues and doesn't need a full patch.

I'm sitting at 94/100 medals, and have been doing my best to avoid finishing it in the hopes of it being fixed before I do the third weekend challenge in a couple days. Reasonable expectation?

Well I got mine to 100 yesterday and it too is bugged. All my friends with it are bugged to so I guess that answers my previous question almost.

Hope the search for a fix is going well!

Nope we can't because people have 7/8 right now, so if we lowered it you would be at 7/7 but not complete.

What I find really weird is that I got the trophy, even with 7/8. I only haven't got the banner.

Guess so.  I just pseudo-unlocked this one tonight.

As long as the issue is fixed within 3 weeks it should be fine. Everyone who plays Gold will eventually have this banner, it's just whether you should have it now (because you play Platinums), or 3 weeks from now (because you don't play Platinums), or whether you'll get it 6 weeks from now if it's not fixed. I think the Squad Elite challenge will get broken for some people if it's not fixed before people get the 6 N7 Weekend Challenges challenge, though. Start worrying in 3 weeks, maybe.
