I don't understand this sentiment.  Admittedly, I have mine at X now, and at level 1 it was a bit so-so, but to me it's superior to the Hurricane.

SMG Rail Amp III, AP Ammo IV, Extended Barrel, Heat Sink, and you're ready to rock'n'roll on Gold or Platinum.  Was using it on my Turian Sentinel on Gold.  One Warp (level 5 debuff only) and I was able to take down a ravager before the clip ran out.  Wait <2 secs and you're back to full ammo and ready to go again.  See a spawn of mooks?  Blat away in 20-30 round burst, pause 0.5 secs, rinse and repeat until spawn is dead.  Brutes, now with their added armor, go down in 2 warp/clip cycles.  Atlases?  No drama.

Yes, admittedly using top-shelf consumables, but I've used that stuff on a Hurricane too with less success due to its horrible accuracy past about 15 meters even when hip firing.  CSMG, you can nail a stream of headshots up to about 30m away, and can easily body shot mooks up to 50m away.  Even further for boss mobs.

I don't understand the hate.  Why do people think this weapon is a joke?

I get better results with the Locust than the CSMG and, even though my CSMG is admittedly only at Level I, I think that's quite telling.

It's not a bad gun, but it probably should be a touch better to justify its UR status.

I have a Collector SMG X and I love it. Easily the best SMG in my opinion. The Hurricane is overrated, terrible accuracy.

I hope you meant extended mag instead of Heat sink cos it doesn't work on the collector SMG.

Eww, seriously? That means on Gold you're doing bare minimum damage (1?). Multiply by 1.5 to get... 1.5 damage per shot. Which means a whole clip does 45 damage. Try killing a Brute with 9000 armor on Gold with that thing! LOL

Mines at I or II and the cool down takes WAY too long and doesn't cool down wen it's put away.

The worst part is the low ammo, recharge is too friggin long...they need to make that longer...and faster reload, it is an UR after all

Until it's higher, I have to say the Hurricane (which I have at III) is much much better. I'm eager to get it up to your level X. Oof, someday.

Damage vs Armor (Gold): 20.20 (unless the rumor about the 1.5x multiplier is true, then its only 7.50)
Clip Size: 40
Burst DPS: 624.00
Sust DPS: 312.00
Weight: 0.35

And here's the Tempest at X (UNCOMMON):
Damage per Shot: 59.40
Damage vs Armor (Gold): 9.40
Clip Size: 50
Burst DPS: 643.50
Sust DPS: 485.66
Weight: 0.30

And the Locust at X (UNCOMMON):

Damage per Shot: 51.00
Damage vs Armor (Gold): 5
Clip Size: 25
Burst DPS: 467.50
Sust DPS: 372.02
Weight: 0.30

The UNCOMMON SMGs are as good/better...soo...thats why everyone (mostly) hates it.
Oh, and the Uncommons are also 90x easier to GET...let alone max out...

I'm sure it's awesome at X. I was using it quite a bit a level 1 for the challenges and was impressed with it right up until the point where I would have to wait for recharge due to overheat. I would love to have it at level X... I would love to have a lot of things at level X.

There's DPS, weight, ease of use, and niches.

It loses the first 3 to the Uncommon SMGs, and has no Niche to fill that isn't already filled better by the CSR or PPR.
