I used to play Black ops, But would always fail miserably
when I played as a sniper. But then modern warfare 3 was a released and on that
game sniper rifles could have low powered Acog scopes as attachments. Suddenly,
I found myself able to snipe things.

Thus Bioware, I have a simple proposal for new attachments I’d
love to see in new DLC content:

Sniper Scope x2.0 zoom.

Sniper Scope (variable zoom).

Particularly on small maps, I often find the zoom in is
quite jarring (especially for xbox players who have that aim assist), but you
have to zoom in due to the no-scope damage reduction.  The result? I miss a lot of shots that I
wouldn’t have if the magnification was smaller.   The raptor is a lovely rifle for this very
reason.   Also, with a variable zoom
scope we get the best of both worlds.

Assault rifle scope x2.5 zoom.

Much like the above, there are plenty of times when I feel
that the current x4 zoom is just too much.

Shotgun x1 zoom.   (i.e red-dot sight)

This is more about having a different aiming reticule than
anything else. But here’s the point; some of the shotguns (after mods) are a
lot more accurate than the current circular reticule would suggest (on a
Marksman spec’d T. Soldier its more than possible to head shot half-way across the
map), what makes aiming hard it trying to place their head in the centre of a
massive circle (i.e. the problem is visual, not a problem with the gun).  The Crusader shotgun has a different reticule probably for this very reason. But if Bioware allows me to rock the Crusaders
crosshairs on something else (like a claymore) then I reckon I could turn that gun
into a deadly headshot machine (on the right build).

Opinions please : - )

also, while talking about scopes, is it just me that things the massive wieght increase on the thermal scopes needs to be reconsidered?   yes, thermal is fun and useful, but 50% added wieght!?   maybe we ought to reduce that penalty to 25% ??

^ if this stuff where added, I'd very much hope it would be uncommon/common gear. In line with the current array of scopes.

Surely this would just make the game too easy?

the Krysae Sniper Rifle did have a variable zoom ( start at x2 then zoom to x10 ) but they stop that about 2 weeks ago to try and stop the missile glich.

I'd personally prefer to see a mod to remove the scopes from sniper rifles.

Tactical Iron Sights V
Removes the zoom-in scope from any sniper rifle and reduces the hip-fire penalty by 100%.

Some other guy posted something similar a few days ago, forgive me for stealing your idea!

How can you call a gun "Sniper" if it doesn't have a scope? I don't get it, why do you want the scope removed?

I agree with op. Huge zooms in small cq maps does not compute.
I'd take red-dot/reflector sights over zooms any day.

I want laser sights like ME2's Phalanx. Increased accuracy without pesky scopes. Lasers would be for all weapon classes and reduce hip-fire penalties on snipers.

And they would all carry a weight penalty so anyone using it would have to make a trade-off... oh wait...
