If DA adopted DD combat style I would be fine with that

Dragon's Dogma's combat was great. It required tactics, classes are diverse, combat is exciting and looks good. Greatswords were the right speed, sword and boarders didn't feel like their only purpose was to soak damage, dual-wielders were agile but didn't teleport/fly/whatever, archery required some skill and accuracy, and mages felt powerful but looked refined and impressive. it felt like what the balance between DAO and DA2 combat should be.
Obviously the game really lacks character or story depth/development, but I doubt anyone's suggesting DA can learn from that.
But you see, that is just the point. It's an RPG! It's about my characters skill, not mine. I suck at frantic controls and it shouldn't matter, because an RPG is not about how good I am, but how good the character I control am.

I think the whole RPG aspect of this issue is best left to P-n-P (pen and paper) games.
All games like DA are action-RPGs or RPGs with action elements.

Dragon Age 2 was already an action rpg.
I dont know much about dragons dogma so I'll just speak generally.
I'd have no issue with action combat and first person. First person would be awesome in fact. Much more immersing. Action combat would be good assuming that it requires tactics and skill and isnt too fast paced. If its boring mashing of mouse 1 until things die it'll ruin the combat.
From what I understand dragon dogma's rpg aspects its very poor. Less emphasis on story, dialogue and choices and more emphasis on gameplay. Thats very bad.

I would actually like to see such an rpg with good plot and dialogue. Most of them are really bland and dull
