Hey, I am attempting my first solo nightmare run( obviously), and I plan to use a rogue. So i was just wondering how to go about building it.
I feel i should make a dex build to have a high defense, or would it be easier to go for a cunnning build?
If I do go for the dex build, should i go for dual daggers to avoid wasting attribute points in strength?
Lastly, I'm curious what specializations i should get?

The guide compilations thread in this section of the forum has a lot of great builds. You may want to consult them.
Personally, I'd prefer a Dexterity build while soloing because of more survivability. But then it's up to you. A Cunning rogue will have more DPS.
If you go for a dex build, dual daggers are perhaps the best bet, because even if you invest a little bit more in strength for heavier armor parts, that would contribute to your daggers' damage output. Of course, this is assuming your cunning score is less than that of strength, because you will want to get Lethality anyway.
For specializations, I'd probably prioritize 'Duelist' and then choose one of Assassin or Bard. Probably assassin, now that I think of it, as I don't get much benefit anyway for bard without a higher cunning score. Although assassin will also be more beneficial for a cunning rogue, but I'll have mark of death for bosses. Providing you are going pure solo, Ranger is out of question.
Another thing I'd like to suggest is making good use of the six rune slots, depending on the situation. Paralyzing runes would be quite handy most of the time, with occassional dweomer, or however you want to go about it.
