I mean, think of the possibilities. Look at how amazingly Marvel is doing now.
Just think:
Star Wars, Episode VII
Directed by Joss Whedon
(that's my final fantasy, unf)
This needs to happen.
I didn't know what to think of this, untill you brought up that possibility.

1 the vast majority are happy Lucas will no longer have the driver seat.
2, alot of costuming groups (mandalorian Mercs, 501st, and Rebel Legion) are all concerned that this buyout could mean the end of them as disney is very protective of its IP's.
and 3 no one wants any crossovers, and there is a general unease about this, with some people even thinking its a sign of the end of times lulz.
On a side note the qoute from the link I posted earlier is this
"Episode VII in 2015 followed by Episodes VIII and IX "every other year" and then "we'll go from there."

That's not much of an achievement. It's a small world, after all.

And wonder how this will turn out for LucasArts. They've been completely ****e for years already now, but I also can't remember Disney ever having brought out an interesting game either.

Are you kidding? Lucas loved the money, and his "creative choices" had hurt the company baddly in recent years. I agree with the books though. Well most of em. Some of them should never see the light of day lulz.
My whole point is when Lucas first started out he hated the idea of the studio getting their hands on his film. Hes is most sucessful Independent filmmaker in history. In fact the only reason Lucas used 20th Century Fox for Star Wars, is to distribute the film. I just found it a tad bit ironic how he did the very thing that he never wanted to do. As for the books, yes some of the more recent ones wouldn't be the right ones to adapt. However, The "Thrawn Trilogy" ( Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, and The Last Command) would be the best ones to adapt, as they were the first Star Wars books written, they really felt like they could have been the third trilogy, and it seems Lucas has already used some of the elements from those books in the films already. TTT please no. Most of the time it looked like Thrawn was getting notes from the writer rather than being intelligent, got defeated as acomplete idiot for a mistake he wouldn´t have made and Zan´s favoritism towards Mara Jade was tiring.
As a former fan of the EU (still am of the comics - will they go back to Marvel?), I´m worried. Storylines such as the New Jedi Order are not something I expect Disney to keep. And let´s face it, relaunches of frnachises usually involve doing very nasty things to the heroes of the past so the new (usually worst) ones can shine.
I´m probably one of the few people who defends Lucas, and I´m a bit surprised, I´d say SW should have made enough money to stand on its own. Although it also seems the deal is similar to the one Disney has with Pixar, so it might have more pros than cons for LFL.

The only concern I have is the acquisition of ILM. I think that is the biggest, and best contribution Lucas had on film and cinema. Will Disney allow them to operate more or less independently and work with whatever film maker/studio they want?

I only liked the original Star Wars films so I really don't care that they have bought the franchise.

My thoughts exactly. It just doesn't matter much to me what Disney will do since the franchise has already been done for long before Disney's acquisition. I got episodes 4 to 6 and KotOR 1&2, that's all I'll ever need.streamlock wrote...
Well, I had lost all hope for the SW franchise (beyond maybe a decent video game here and there-at best) about 15 minutes into the 1st film on opening day....So as far as that goes-who knows, will be interesting to see at least.
