Im cautiously optimistic... Disney has done good work with Marvel and without George these next movies could be great.

What im more worried about is by how large Disney is becoming... Kinda unsettling

hate to break to it to you, but between disney, viacom, WB, Newscorp, Ge and CBs, they own 90% of the industry
enjoy!

^ That is nothing new, at least to me.

Personally, I'm surprised how hands off most of those companies are with their holdings. They don't seem to exert the type of tight control expected, makes their companies still seem separate from eachother.

It actually reminds me of the feudal system of medieval europe to be honest, with the church controlling all the kings and the kings controlling the lords and the lords controlling the knights and the knights controlling the serfs and down the line you went, all separate but all paying a small fief to keep the system going.

I can't see this as a bad thing: Pixar and Marvel are both doing well under Disney.
The possibility of a new (and good) Star Wars movie is exciting.

Dang.. this will be interesting. I like Disney movies generally, so I can't say I'm unhappy with this news.

I remember when Disney bought Marvel, there were all these fanboys predicting that Mickey would join the X-Men or Spider-Man would get a Goofy as a sidekick and other such doom-and-gloom nonsense. Look at how Marvel has prospered under Disney, especially their movies. I'm cautiously optimistic about this. Certainly it'll be better than Lucas.

I sorta think they will release the classic star wars once more unedited and without the add ons, based on how the Disney guy is being quoted he smells money with things fan want, so not thinking it will be bad.

Probably will do special releases for such before vaulting them and do the same with the prequals or whatever that word is.

Disney made a single Marvel movie so far: "The Avengers". Marvel prospered under Paramount, which gave them Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man.
You want to know what the future holds for "Star Wars"? Look at the "Pirates of the Carribean"-franchise and it's terrible sequels.

1st April ?!? ... looks on my calendar. Nope it is 31st of October.

Didn't expect something like that happen so soon. Ep. 7 sounds interesting with Lucas being creative consultant and others working on script etc and IL&M weaving their magic .. could be interesting .. cautiously excited.

Edit: Hmm I just read that Disney paid more for Picar then for Lucasfilms ... odd.

You do realize that Paramount was just the distributer and had nothing to do with the actual production of Marvel's films.  And the Pirate sequels were still better than the Starwars prequels.

What I´m more worried about is the comics going to Marvel. Dark Horse has been doing really good ones the last 10 years or so, and unless they take the writers along, I don´t see any of the big names in Marvel now up to the task (except maybe Peter David).

Considering the theme park work they've done with Lucas (Star Tours, Temple of Doom, Captian EO, and ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter) I am excited and not very surprised by this.

The Pirate sequels were horrible and then you have a prime example of Disney ruining part of it's own history.  They ruined the original ride, but like Lucas did with his own franchise.  HOWEVER I can sit through the first 3 Star Wars episodes, but I can not at all for the POTC movies starting at Dead Man's Chest.

As long as Johnney Depp isn't in the next Star Wars movie I don't think we have anyhting to worry about...

I hope they don't continue the films on the point in the Star Wars timeline where they're like "get ALL the Emperor clones" because that would be just plain boring.

Bring on Revan and the Exile.
