Good news for the teams hard at work on LucasArts’ first round of in-house developed games since 2010’s Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2. The studio made headlines at E3 2012 when it debuted Star Wars 1313,
a new third-person shooter planned for still unannounced next
generation consoles like the Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4. LucasArts is
also rumored to be finishing up an Xbox Live Arcade shooter known as Star Wars: First Assault.
Those games may be the last console Star Wars games for some
time after they’re finished. Disney CEO Bob Iger’s statements following
the announcement of the Lucasfilm acquisition indicate that Star Wars’ future in video games will lean more towards the realm of Angry Birds Star Wars rather than The Force Unleashed.
When asked how Disney would integrate Lucasfilm’s properties into its interactive business, Iger responded that the companies are “likely to focus more on social and mobile than we are on console.”
**** you disney. Crash and burn!!
Well, that f*cking sucks, there goes any chance of RC2, KOTOR3 or BF3.

Its easy to cherry pick the bombs (cherry bombs!). But the list of major box office successes vastly outnumbers that. No studio has a perfect record, and one of those films you picked was from nearly 20 years ago.

John Carter was good. They were just too stupid to include "from the creator of Tarzan" in the ad campaign, but SW won´t have that problem.

Yup. Disney has never and will never commision any games 3rd party licence or otherwise with heavy violence or anything one could consider mature, such as Kotor, The force unleashed and Battlefront.Even if they do release a console game, it's going to be heavily censored or marketed to kids like everything with a Disney logo.Gamers who complained about The force unleashed will come to regret every word.
Look what happened when they bought Acclaim games, the first (and only) things to go were the games with violence such as 9dragons and 2moons, leaving only dress up and games only a 10 year old would call artistic.I won't blink if they attempt to shut down, heavily censor or replace the old republic with one of their own kiddie sw mmos because of all the sexcapades in game.

As far as the Avengers go, that was a Childrens movie. There was nothing in that movie that could be equated to mature or at least my level of mature it seems.

The games they publish under Disney Interactive, as well as movies produced under the Walt Disney Studios and Pixar labels have all been G-rated fare intended for family audiences.
However, they have also produced and distributed thousands of R-rated and even a few NC-17 feature films with all sorts of violence, nudity and mature themes.
I wouldn't rule out Star Wars games with mature themes just yet.

Mmmm I don't know if I'd agree... Those movies are released via Disney's subsidaries Touchstone, Miramax, and Hollywood Pictures. While it's true disney owns these companies, their relationship seems to be just vice profit. One would never even know disney owned those companies without doing a bit of digging as their logo is never portrayed in their films.
The difference with the starwars franchise is that disney has an actual interest in commercializing and capitalizing on it.
I'm really hoping you're right but I don't have much faith that they won't try to heavily moderate one of their poster franchises.
