I've noticed that the armies you have at your disposal during the final battle always seem to have an empty space available.

So far, the various armies I have managed to recruit during my three palythroughs of the game so far have been the Dalish Elves, the Humans of redcliffe, The Dwarves of Orzammar, The Templars, Circle Mages, and the Werewolves.

Are there any armies I could still recruit and is it possible to fill all of the army military slots?

I suspect that the final army I haven't recruited is that of the golems.  I have never yet sided with Branka as I think she is as vile, and despicable a person as one could possibly be but I might hold my nose and do it even if it means losing Shale.
Just for the sake of seeing more content.

You are correct.  And when they say a Golem is worth 10 dwarven warriers they aren't kidding.

Cool, so can you have both the Dwarves and the Golems amongst your ranks in the final batle or do the Golems replace the Dwarves?

Simple way of siding with branka but not losing shale, well 2 ways...

Firstly, don't get shale till done orzammar

Secondly, don't take shale with you on first trip into deep roads, wait till after having sided with branka, then after completing orzammar bit go back in to caradins Cross with Shale and you should be able to initiate the personal quest (might be a good idea to bump up the approval with him beforehand too)

Edit:  You get both the Dwarves and the Golems

Just don't take Shale when you confront Caridin.

You can have both, although obviously only one at a time.

One last question. Do the Golems have an officer who joins you at your camp and requests supplies?
