I may be out of line asking this, but did you buy their game? If the answer is no, then refrain from telling others how to play. If the answer is yes, demand a refund or punch a hanar.

I'm sorry, I didn't know they had permission to ruin other peoples games with their choice when they decide nobody should get to have credits for completing the mission becasue of how they feel about missles.

Works both ways pal, you can't pull the "it's their game" card cause their inside the other peoples games as well.

If they join your PUBLIC game, then you cannot complain if they don't fit your view of the way a player should play. Want to avoid people that do not play as you do, then stick to private games. I'm not saying they have the right to ruin your game, simply stating the simple fact that your point of view is not and should not be the standard all others conform to when playing. You're entitled to your opinion, but your opinion is not holy scripture or law just as my opinion is not.

So very much this, but I blame my controller for that.  I used to blame my controller for constantly wanting to go left when I take hard cover.  Wasted plenty of missiles because of it.  A friend of mine has noticed this for him as well.  Anybody else?

Oh and OP, not so much are missiles my concern, but damn Medigel.  Use them, if you don't have any, WHY THE F&@K ARE YOU IN A GOLD MATCH!!!!!

I wouldn't have wasted a missile either. I also would't have fired my gun. I'd have kited enemies aroudn the map till I got to the LZ dropped off the package, pulled my missile out waited for the "Operation Complete+30000 credits" to appear on the killfeed and rocketted the group of enemies. THAT'S how you use rockets. Enemies can normally always be easily kited ofr objectives. And if they don't follow on Pizza then it makes your job easier. Killing enemies during theobjective does nothing. They just respawn and they normally respawn even closer to the LZ. There is no wave budget so for everything not-named Hack, Assassinate or Devices there is no reason to kill much of anything. There's awlays going ot be 8 enemies on the map no matter how many you kill until after you see the credits visibly clear on your screen post-objective.

I mostly play public games, and usualy ignore friendlists and such.

I play with most people, though yesterday there was that lvl 13 human engineer with no gear and only an Avenger 1 and Valiant 1...... I didn't feel like that was justifiable in a Platinum game. Im normaly not that picky but that is just too much for me.
And yes sometimes it can be a little anoying with people who run aroud the map for 20mins then get synckilled by a Banshee. If they had a missile then havign 3 Banshees on your heels should be reason enough on Platinum.
Especialy after the first few mins of not managing to get their barriers down before the regenerate as clearly shown through their tactical scans..

But im usualy fairly easygoing.

Op

I do fully agree. It's frustrating when people don't do what's needed in a match: I remind them and try to help them if they seem to be on trouble and when they don't listen at all its really frustrating:

Usually what I do, but will also missile something directly in my path when it is unavoidable. As for those who do not use them, even when I think I would've in their shoes, that's just the roll of the dice when I joined a public game. If I wanted someone to play like I do, I'd find like-minded gamers and stick with them in private games.

I'll fire a missle to save someone from getting banshee grabbed, consumables are there for a reason, so if people have them and you are so close on wave 10 then fire one.

I've tried to use an Ops Pack before and ended up pulling out the Cobra as well as restoring my shields/health. Very trippy.

Why? I never use rockets. It's not necessary, if you're skilled enough. learn2play, OP and stop whining!

If you're not prepared to fire a single missile if your team gets into a sticky situation then you really shouldn't play at all.

Fixed that for you.

Missiles and gels are kind of a crutch. I much rather they bring DPS to tear up the bosses in good order. I would play with someone with no consumables. But bringing them helps assure an easy victory. But if you need them to complete missions on a regular basis then you might not be ready for that difficulty. Now if you are using missiles to speed up the game (like rocketing spawns) during a speedrun that's totally different

That being said, I will personally use my consumables but I try not to expect others to do so. I dont buy their packs.

I believe that the reason that people don't use rockets is that they either don't have them ( don't purchase JEP ), or they are leachers who will only use them if they have to. Its not usually a problem for me because I usually take the armored compartments gear and take 8 rockets into each match. I only use them for objective waves or to prevent a wipe ( yes, I don't use them to nuke spawns, somebody on the team usually does that ).

But TallGeese - I think proper use of rockets is a skill needed for successful gold matches, just like specing your character for good results, putting on good weapons and gear and using consumables. These are all expectations that I have of people entering a Gold match. People might not meet them, but that does not mean that the majority of players on Gold expect that.

If the situation looked hopeless to him why should he waste a missile. You and two other team mates are dead and between the four of you you couldnt get a pizza objective done in the first 4 minutes. Either you all got sync killed, in which case you're out of your league, you refused to use a medi-gel to get back up and help (ditto your 2 dead team mates), in which case you're a hypocrite, or you already used every one of your med gels before wave 10, in which case you're also out of your league. If you're not good enough you're not gonna win a game....Deal with it. he odds are stacked in the lone survivor's favour that he was in the right imo

Ah perhaps you have experience soloing? I didn't develop that skill til I practiced soloing. Sometimes it can be so refreshing when everyone else on the team is dead. Makes it much easier to control the spawns.

Now if the team has mics that is a different story. You can tell the other team to distract the mobs while the solo pizza guy makes the delivery

Why didn't you use one of yours? Oh wait, you were too busy being dead, just like the rest of the team. You can't expect him to get you some precious credits when you can't even stay alive.

I rarely solo. The skill came from speedrunning. To maximise time efficiency you want to try and have as many rockets for 5, 8 and 9 (aswell as about four rockets for 3, 6 and 10 in case assassinate, hack or a really award escort route or device pops up). So yeah rockets aren't used on 1, 2, 4 or 11 and are rarely used on 6 during Gold speedruns (you probably know why).

So your saying that if I run around killin g70% of enemies, do all the objectives, effectively use rockets, revive teammates if they are close by, use 2 medi-gels when I do go down but then get magnet grabbed by a Praetorian and the rest of the team goes down desptie never having done jack**** all game I shouldn't expect them to medi-gel in order to kill the three remaining enemies?

The op has a valid complaint and has stated it perfectly in his thread title. One reason I have so few missiles compared to my other consumables in my manifest is that half the time people refuse to use a missile until it is simply too late and the match is in dire jeopardy. Yes, USE your freakin missiles!!!!

I see your point Ryoldschool and agree that it is amongst those skills that makes a good player for gold games and beyond. My point, however, is that one should not expect everyone else to play as they want them to in public games. You're telling people that if they do not conform to a standard, that they have no place in the game. This can be true if you played a private or friends only game, but cannot be a standard forced on public matches. Players, like it or not, can play however they please in public games as long as they are not griefing others or violating the ToS. Not playing as one expects in no way violates those terms or can be considered griefing. I am one of those players who believes players should be courteous and helpful, but I will not cross that line and tell them how to play their game.
