It requires you to be aware and put some effort in to get.
Skill? Not this late in the game.

I think that distinction requires some explanation.

The games old and people have good gear.
Soloing gold with certain class setups is a joke.
How many people got that banner with a Kroguard or TGI?

Most people never solo and now they solo just for the banner so they have no intention of soloing for the challenge of it or to get better, they just want the banner.

I know people who have maxed manifests and are competent(not great) gold players who can't get this banner.

Imagine how awesome it would be if it required 10 solos in consecutive order each with different character xD

For sure. That's the way I did it... didn't even fail, and I had NEVER EVER even tried to solo Gold before that. I was kinda surprised that I actually did it, and that it was that easy. I took the Armored Compartments with me, and on wave 9 I was like " I still have 7 rockets left... SWEET!"

Also... the reason I did it easy mode, is because I hate soloing. I don't like moving backwards the entire game... I like going forward constantly and press the action a little too hard at times. Also... it is by far the fastest banner to get, and I didn't have one at the time... and I was just happy to have anything. I don't really like the banner either... just a bunch of rubble with Shepard looking up with his emo face...

It's the only one that won't come with time and a varied playstyle and that you can't be carried through. A Kroguard against Geth doesn't take much skill, but it does take more than any of the others.

That would be something akin to a Halo SLASO run.

I would welcome it.

This is actually valid, allot of people saying how easy it is, don't have it and the excuse is "It's boring". Not a very valid excuse.

And those are the same people that will look online for the easiest ways to solo gold and use them.
Will they try and do it again or use there favorite class setups regardless of its viability which in turn would make them a better player? No.
People just want the banner and thus the title means little to nothing in generalization for pubs.

Originally i thought the entire Kroguard vs Geth could be done by anybody but it seems from some of the previous posts on this forum, i was wrong. Some missed the entire cyclonic mod 3+ equipment, others selected the +10% DR rather than 30% penalty reduction evo.

So in conclusion, the banner does seem to imply some skill but is unreliable at best

It requires some skill, yes. Not if you do kroguard vs geth or using TGI.

I know decent/average gold players who can't get it with Krog/Reeg.

I've seen them carry waves here and there on gold but, they still don't have LW.

And not for lack of trying.

Well, for me it is mainly due to a lack of trying. I don't have lone wolf, and I don't care to get it. I have nothing against others doing it, but for me the main draw of ME3 mp is that it's cooperative. I started out on the Atari 2600 (the original model with the faux wood paneling on the top that reminded me of an old station wagon), moved on to the NES, Super NES, Playstation, PS2, XBOX, and currently the XBOX 360. I point this out simply to demonstrate that, for me, gaming began (and is still most fun) with getting together with friends. We'd pop in a game and each grab a controller (or rotate who had the controllers if there were enough of us). I still do that with my best friend when I get the opportunity. When I can't, I now have the option of meeting up with other friends online and sharing a similar experience. So, if I'm playing with friends and they go down and I have to solo part of a gold wave, that's fine. It's just that, for me, playing solo games completely defeats the purpose of playing ME3 mp.

I also started out with the original Atari, as well as Space Invaders and Missile Command in a local carry-out.

I'm not sure what your point is with this post.

At least no one could claim it doesn't require skill.

The way I see it, there are two different types of people who want this banner:

1) Those who want the banner just for the sake of having it and additional points
2) Those who want the banner "legit" (playing the character they usually play, not always the one easy to solo)

I imagine right now when someone appears in the lobby with the LW banner playing, say, Quarian Male Infiltrator, other players have to wonder — did he really do solo runs with THIS character or did he do it with TGI/Kroguard even despite not playing those kits regularly.

Adding additional requirement (each solo with different character) would help enormously to evaluate skill.

Your definition of a competent player is probally a lot more forgiving than mine.
If they cared enough to use certain setups with minimal effort they could get the banner.

There is a difference between some skill and just being terrible though.
For example I have a N7 7k with maxed manifest on my friends list who is one of the worst players I know / ever played with.

The AI on a solo run being lobotomized probably helps move these titles along swimmingly too. Every solo video I see it is the slight variation of the same theme. Barely anything is actually attacking the lone player and dumping clip after clip into walls even if it isn't an infiltrator.

Are you talking about INVADERONE?

He is surprisingly average.

I'm suspecting that those who fail either can't do the objectives or stand out in the open getting stunlocked by the entire geth spawn. If you can deal with those 2 things, kroguard geth should be fairly straightforward to solo with.

My apologies. I thought my point was fairly clear. I play ME3 mp because it's a cooperative game. It lets me get together with other people and have a good time while we work together towards a group objective. Soloing simply defeats the purpose of me playing ME3 mp. If I want to solo, I'll play the campaign.

I played with a lot of Lonewolfs, most of them were bad players and go down alot on Gold. So if i get more than one Lonewolfer in my Lobby I get out of ther.

I have a few lone wolf friends that I would outscore blindfolded. Farthest I've got is wave 9 so far.

Soloing is incredibly boring and tedious (especially simultaneously working on some challenge, like melee and cerberus in my case), but as a result I have begun to understand some of the cheapness issues some people have been crying about. I find it extremely aggravating that you cannot shadow strike atlases, while their homing missiles are now doing AoE DoT that can in fact kill you. At least as irritating is the fact that cutting down a turret damages you just enough that any other damage coming at you will probably take you down. Kamikaze dragoons who can find and attack you while cloaked and phantoms not taking damage while in movement animation also ****** me off in a way unbelievable.

I think the banners are a good way to gauge experience. If you get some of the weapon banners you must have a decent amount of experience with that type of weapon and also one like the commando banner for example means you've spent a lot of time as different classes so hopefully you learned how to play them well.

His point is that he enjoys gaming with other people and doesn't care about solo'ing.

No I don't have him on my list, hes alright I just don't like how much he talks in his vids.
I'm tempted to dump 200$ into a HD PVR just so I can rep consoles with pure gameplay vids with maybe some dark humor thrown in.

Regarding the player I mentioned I rather not throw his name on BSN.
He knows he is terrible, that is enough.
