What other pre-existing IP/s would you like to see get the BioWare RPG treatment?

Exactly what it says on the tin.

BioWare have traversed the Forgotten Realms, brought war to the Galaxy Far, Far Away and snapped at the heels of a certain blue hedgehog... but if you could choose any other pre-existing, non-BioWare developed IP (outside FR/SW/Sonic) to get the BioWare RPG treatment, what would it be?

Run off as many as you like -- the thread's intended as a bit of fun.

Personally, I'd love to see BioWare do a Doctor Who RPG. The thought of playing a Doctor-like Time Lord in BioWare's take of the Whoniverse makes me positively giddy. A myriad of companions, a universe of worlds, different time periods... a "party camp" that happens to be a space-time travelling ship that's BIGGER ON THE INSIDE!?

It'd be fantastic, absolutely fantastic! :D

(If you haven't heard of Doctor Who, shame on you!)

An Inquistor 40,000 K game, on the other hand, would be a completely different kind of epic. ;)

So, get going! You all know you have at least one franchise you're just dying for BioWare to tackle. :P

Off topic but...I miss David Tennant already! and I'm apprehensive about Matt Smith ¬_¬

Anyways, I have to admit the concept does sound rather intriguing. Myriad choices of planets, species and time periods gives a hell of a lot to work with, the only problem being that it doesn't quite fit with the lore. You can't play as the Doctor for obvious reasons and all other Time Lords are dead (except the Doctor's daughter), although you could claim one escaped the Time Lock without the Doctor's notice in End of Time but that's kinda cheap. Also, the TARDIS is the only one of its kind now and currently in use so new party camp is needed...

As for my choice, I'd love to see BioWare take over Warcraft, just because they'd do a much better job than Blizzard (cue fanboy hate). A single player Warhammer (40k or fantasy) crpg might be interesting too, if done right.

Edit: Just had a thought about the Whoiverse rpg. It could work as long as the PC isn't a Time Lord. Maybe work for Torchwood or UNIT for example

Why would it have to be set on a post-Time War timeline? I wasn't really envisioning that, to be honest.

You could play as one of the Doctor's parents (and show where he gets it from). :D Or it could go down a completely AU route.
The setting is ripe! Ripe I tell you! :wizard:

Don't be apprehensive about Smith, either. He's gonna be awesome. Especially now Moffat is the show runner.

Imagine a Who MMORPG set during the Time War, with the regeneration cap having been lifted "for the duration of the emergency". It'd be awesome to 'respawn' with a different appearance and base-stats each time.

True. Was silly of me to assume you meant post-Time War. In that case you could be any Time Lord. And if it's an MMO, you could allow players to change their Time Lord characters up to 10 times by way of "regenerating" (in a similar vein to the way WoW lets you pay to change your character, except free) altho that would have to be balanced for other characters, maybe daleks and cybermen can go to a workshop for customisation and other humanoids can get cosmetic surgery :P

I would love to see a horror based RPG -- not too many of those floating around. So, how about something Lovecraft (Cthulu)?

I'd love to see a horror rpg. I loved Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines, something similar would be great (minus the numerous bugs)

What I would like to see them make is a game that isn't a hybrid of two genres.

Bioware are Canadian/American, they couldn't possibly do a good Doctor Who game unless they opened a British studio for it.

Bioware are good at dramatic and slightly silly settings like Star Wars and Forgotten Realms but not as good with more subtle worlds (Dragon Age) and completely pants at sci-fi.

I think something set in Larry Niven's Known Space might be a good candidate. Bandersnatchi hunting in a tank, searching for the martians in the dust seas of mars, flying in the mists around mount lookitthat on Plateau or, of course, the unspeakably vast area of the ringworld itself.

Freelancer.

If BioWare would grow the stones to buy the IP rights and the source code (including the engine) from Microsoft, perhaps hire some of the former Digital Anvil devs... Oh, I'd be as giddy and forward as a Saldaean farmgirl at Harvest!

I would love to see the Thief setting expanded on, Garret was interesting and all, but the setting was just so rich and its sad to see it just wither away, it was and still is a very new concept that could use some more work done to it. I mean, how often do you see the Steampunk setting done so WELL.

Dungeon Keeper would be another good one, this ones story wasn't ever really expanded on, but the IDEA behind it I think would make a wonderful Bioware game, where rather then play as the little hero and his band of buddies, you play as the evil lord, and attempt to bring down the goodly nations with your armies and allies, the problem with this is, it would be hard to do, make it to serious, and people wouldn't want to play a terribly evil person, make it to cartoony, and people don't think it feels like a Bioware title.

Other good ones would be a horror title, rather then fighting enemy humans, you fight something akin to Cthulu, although this one would probably be much harder to do, as alot of the story I think would fall flat, but I've been surprised by Bioware before, and they could probably pull something off, extra props if you get to see most of the Earth in ruins near the end. WH40K would also make an AMAZING RPG if done well, and with respect to the liscense, which I think Bioware could do.

I had a few other good ones, but I forgot them while writing this post, if I think of them, I'll come back and edit >_>

EA should have got BioWare to a LotR RPG game while they could, instead of those awful games they did. (except for the RTS which is actually cool).

I'd love to see the Silmarillion into a CPRG!

Ehhh....

The problem with most of the suggestions in this thread is how little creative direction Bioware would be allowed to apply to them, Who would probably work pretty well, but with Star Trek, it would have to be much more strict, and with stuff like LotR, it would have to be a cut and paste copy of one of the LotR stories, because its such a specific IP.

Like with Star Wars, at the time they picked it up, it was such a gigantic universe, which so much still unwritten, and while I'm sure Lucas helped direct how the Old Republic was set up, I doubt it was as strict as say a Star Trek game would have to be, as that IP has been explored almost fully already.

Not to ruin anyones hopes and dreams or anything >.>

Ew. I've gone off it already. :P (RTD did some good stuff, not least resurrecting the show, but I'm more than happy to see him go as the showrunner... especially when he turned regeneration into death!)

Still, the mere thought of a British BioWare studio makes me a happier person, unlikely as it is.

Though since Canada's in the Commonwealth and they share our Queen, they're pseudo-British as far as I'm concerned, anyway.  :P (Despite all the French!)

Ah, Shadowrun, my first ever PnP RPG experience... fantastic.

I like the Dungeon Keeper suggestion, too: I loved that game as a kid. T'was truly good to be bad. Though it'd probably be more fun if you started out as one of the "Heroes" and could later convert as the game progressed if you so chose. Or maybe you'd play as a Keeper who got trapped in possession mode? Hmm...

DDO, Dungeons and Dragons online.. Definetly...

Bioware would/could do so much improvement on that game.

And ofcourse, Dungeon Keeper too, I loved it, for a old game.
