i absolutely HATE to feel the burning need to, a little very ragey post about it again - but unfortunately it is that way...
with my latest tests with it a hour ago - here are my results:
test loadout: paladin sentinel, 700 health, 1050 shields + gear bonus shield booster 5 that should add 30% of base shields to the max., so 30% of 750 = 225 + 1050 = 1275 shields,
only results with un-possessed scions and without the effects of 40% damage reduction from my rank6 energy drain active, or ops survival pax's possible bonus shields count here for my little study - and its on bronze difficulty while beeing the host:
i step about 10 meters right in front of the first scion and say: "come on - shoot me, shoot me..." - and it does - result from very first hit: shield gate hit!
800 damage my prussian a** damnit!
people were starting to tell me that its cannon deals about 100% extra disruptor/ "electrical aura" bonus damage to players shields whatsoever - and if it is that way:
this thing, that is spawn-rate considered as a regular enemy even on bronze would be way OP - as it shoots three times in a row!
- but it comes way better: i repeated exact that kind of "insane-test" multiple times - and sometimes 1 hit really just depleted about two thirds of my 1275 shield - so the bug-doubled 400 damage stated in the live update notes - WTF?
also: sometimes when i had placed my paladin sentinels omni-shield right between me and the scion - the shots seemed to ignore my omni-shield completely an pushed right through to my hitpoint bars - like the thing that made players think that scion shots have the ability to penetrate cover - what was where i always said:
"no! the system sometimes just considers you as beeing caught in the MASSIVE splash-damage-area of its shots...".
additionally: i noticed sometimes the regen-blocking "electrical aura effect" not appearing after gotten hit by it...
...so: "maybe" it "sometimes" deals bonus damage to shields, maybe "sometimes" the system considers you as beeing caught in the MASSIVE splash-damage-area of one of its shots !additionally! with beeing considered as beeing hit direct from the same hit
- what would be an additional "double damage bug" -
but in the end: all this "sometimes" that takes place in the results when facing the scion cannon shots just mean one thing:
"this piece of cr*p/ doom seems bugged as hell!"
so... - balance team, could you kindly just block the part of the scions cannon firing of the code, making the game ignore it completely and just tell the game it should use the ravager cannons shooting squence for when the scion attempts to shoot something?
please, i hate to see you kindly invest all the effort and time and energy and what not in trying to make this thing work anyhow balanced - but i guess: forget about it!
it seems way to bugged to me - please rather look for a way to replace it with the issue-free and proven content of the ravager cannons shooting sequence somehow.
even though i know this will never happen, as nobody does what i like them to do !ever! (probably would not do so myself either

I have to agree with this. I found no difference at all with scion shots on bronze last night. Might be imagining thigns but I had a full health/shields Bat Sentinel and was put into near death after two shots before I could get behind cover.

Seems like you guys are focusing on weapons by type, since you paid a lot of attention to snipers. Well you then move on to shotguns and assault rifles?

Also gave the mantis a shot. It feels perfect for a common starter weapon. Capable of head shots for trooper level kills, but if you miss they survive. Perfect, IMO

Sometimes when you charge you do not move even 2 inches forward. It is as if there is an invisible wall there. Yet you see the charge and the animation. Strangely, you can charge again as if you had not charged at all.
On a game versus Reapers, I got staggered 4 or 5 times in a row until they killed me right after I had used medigel to stand up. I had no idea the reapers now staggered more than Geth.

Base damage is 800 on bronze (double damage bug is still in effect), but that isn't how much damage a scion will deal. Despite bronze being the lowest difficulty, there is a difficulty-based damage modifier that's applied to all enemy units. Why the base value isn't good enough for the lowest difficulty, I don't ******* know. That alone doesn't explain the extremely high damage output of the scion's cannon, though. Based on my experience with scions since the last balance update, I believe they have a 2x damage multiplier against shields/barriers.
