Second Run-thru (Female Elf Mage): All but Married. She planned to stick around in Denerim until she could pull a Jowan and destroy her own Phylactery, then run for the hills......
THird Run-thru (Female Elf Rogue): Bedded, and he never touched another so long as he lived (She sacrificed herself)
Fourth run-thru: (Male Dalish Ranger): Killed on sight.
I'll let the reader decide if I liked him (or not), and keep further opinions to myself

You do realize that very early on, you can bluntly tell Zevran that you don't swing that way, and..shazaam! Gues what? He leaves you alone, and instead goes on to offer his "services" to other famles in your party. And thus, you won't end up with that little offer of a massage you get later on if you lead him on.
I really don't get it. Zevran's sexuality is no big secret, and people who are so very offended by it can just as easily cut it short and direct Zevran on the "good buddy" track".
Of course, if your character has such a difficult time dealing with the amorous interest of a sexually ambiguous elf, then what the hell is he doing fighting darkspawn?

I demand that he wear a jumpsuit, shave his head, and death pinch my enemies.

Why not? I let Sten live. The guy flipped out and killed an entire family because he couldn't find his special sword, holds an intolerant and militant religous view, and basically hates everything in my country except cookies.
Leliana is also an assassin in a way, and a crazy one to boot, since she's having religious visions and creepy pasttimes. Shale is a big, magically inhanced psychotic chunk of rock who takes pleasure out of squishing people, and once flippedout and killed her master. Morrigan is a cold, manipulative mage of questionable loyalty whose motives you really can't figure out, Alistair is a failed alter boy and royal bastard who likes playing with golem dolls. Oghren is an unstable drunk who will hit on anything, including your dog, when drunk, and Wynne is borderline possesed/undead.
So explain to me again, just how having an "assassin" is any worse than your current line up, unless you killed them all?

Leliana has never tried to kill me. I forsee death in her future however.
Shale has never tried to kill me, is good at what it does, and was possesed by "Kitty" when it killed its former master.
Morrigan has never tried to kill me but is about THIS close to being headbutted.
Alistair has never tried to kill me and he entertains me.
Oghren has never tried to kill me and he entertains me.
Wynne has never tried to kill me and is useful. So long as she keeps her opinions to herself we won't have a problem.
I don't really think this way of course, I'm just following what my character's line of thinking is.

Second time I kept him alive because I planned on using him to open chests but I quickly got over that idea because he sucks unless you control him....so I ignored him and he ended up turning on me and died anyway.
Third play through, which I'm on now I plan on saving before getting him, make him like me enough to teach me the assassin specialization then loading the older save and slitting his throat in which case every play through from then on the same will happen. His life is forfeit.

Zevran is a dangerous man in all the fun ways, why would you want to cut that short?
I was RPing Elyndra Cousland as a sort of "prim and proper" Noblewoman. WIth a small Temper problem, so it was appropriate to kill Zevran after that "sex goddess" remark.
As for the Dalish, well.... He tried to kill me, and failed. No survivors.
EDIT: Assasin Manual is in the Alienage store, IIRC...

That and it's how you unlock the assassin talent for rogues ( for free that is, not buying the tome )
and a foursome at the pearl
I actually just liked having him around, I never used him in my parties but let him leave camp now and then JUST for the banter once I'm done in an area.
I suppose the only way " I personally" think I could see anything troublesome with Zav is were I male, straight...perhaps homophobic, and or 12 and rather paranoid about him turning on me, rather than female, pan, and approaching 30...but then again thats me, Everyone is more than welcome to their points of view, and their own reasons for it...if you like him, you like him, if not, then you don't it can be fun either way.

No one tried to kill me, either, but several have shown that they certainly are unstable enough that if tipped the wrong way, they would go postal. None of the ones in question: Morrigan, leliana, Sten, and Shale really give me much confidence at that point that they won't flip out on me.
My character's line of thinking was that basically, Loghain and Howe were the ones she wanted dead. Zevran, whatever his loyalties, was someone who had information that might help me make said advisaries dead. And, the possibility existed in her head that, as an assassin, she might be able to rehire him to go kill Loghain or Howe, since assassins pretty much do anything for the right money. Failing that, she could always torture more info out of him later. (Only to discover than torturing Zevran probably will end up with a marriage proposal from him)
but killing him? Dead men tell no tales, and she has alot of questions. When she saves him, he's a useful possibility, and no worse than the band of kooks she's already camping with at night. Thus, Zevran lives.

Taking this guy along with you REALLY makes no more sense than taking along an assassin.
Plus, if you take Sten with you to Haven BEFORE you complete 2 of the main story quests he proves just how dangerous he can be by challenging you to a duel to the death for the leadership of the party. on what grounds? He believes you incompetent of defeating the Dark Spawn.
If you manage to defeat him, you can either kill him, spare him and he buggers off, or invite him back to your party. In this sense, he's REALLY no different than Zevran.
Lelianna, Shale and Wynne will all try to kill you if you bring them along on certain quests and make a choice that goes against THEIR moral codes. If they don't come with you, but find out what you've done, they'll leave you without a second though.
Alistair and Morrigan will abandon you for similar reasons easily, and their betrayals can cut very deep.
Zevran, on the otherhand, I've found to be one of the loyalist companions in the game. First, because his friendship is easy to earn, and once you've got it, he sticks with you through thick and thin. That 'encounter' where he can potentially betray you during the Landsmeet is almost a joke, because it's so easy to avoid if you just TALK to the guy.
Plus, even if you make choices that he disapproves of (killing the Dalish, sparing Vaughan, sparing the slave trader, destroying the anvil) he doesn't march away in a tizzy.
Zevran, Oghren, and Dog, I think, are the loyalist members of the party. Would NEVER want to have to go anywhere without them.

Now I totally love Sten, but man he got on my nerves the first time through. As where Zevran amused me from the start. Even if he didn't , he was a master of making poisons, so he would be useful to me in that way, if not as a combatant.

Exactly. The motley crew you've assembled is no worse for having an assassin, a professional one, in your party. (Lel's kinda just an amature.)

Yeah, you guys need to get off thegreateski's back. He already stated that he's speaking from a character perspective, not a personal one.
Though I would greatly advise keeping Zevran alive on a later play through, thegreateski. You're missing out on the awesome.
