Hi i just go to the part where i need to decide to kill the Werewolves and Witherfang for Zathrian or go back and kill all the Dalish. Did you guys side with the Elves or the Werewolves or did you get Zathrian to sacrifice himself so the curse is lifted?

I sided with the Werewolves, and let me tell you, it felt awesome. Fighting side by side with werewolves and slaughtering elves was amazing.

Having Zathrian sacrifice himself is an alternative way to side with the Elves. Personally I prefer the werewolves because what could possibly be cooler than an army of werewolves?

Werewolves first time around. Was sick of the elves and their ways, slightly inebriated and tired.

My finest moment.

Tried all 3 ways to go *2 for the elves and one werewolves* and all were appropriate for the character I played at the time... ^^

Most tend to go Curselifting, since it's the natural progression of the dialogues, unless You HAVE to be evil or rash...

Curselifting is easiest to do, that I've done.

Can you lift the curse if you refuse to parley with the lady? Or does she just attack you on sight?

I'd kill Zathrian. The werewolf ending isn't that good.

Curse lifting unless you want to be either stupid or evil. Do remember, if you're killing the elves, to stock up on all the elfroot you'll need for the rest of the game.

Huh, I've gotten there 3 times so far. Each time, I've broken the curse. It kinda bugs me that I got the achievement for 'siding with the elves' when I emphatically did not. I didn't kill witherfang or side with zathrian, but that's what I get, sheesh.

I think I choose that one because it's almost the only quest in the whole game where you get to make a not this or that choice. Bhelen or Harrowmont? Anora or Alistair? And so on and so forth ad infinitum. Very few games, this one included, truly let you play 'neutral', and fewer let you play 'chaotic good' even if they say they do. Good choices are almost invariably lawful, unlawful ones are evil.

We get to make a lot of choices in this game, don't get me wrong, and they do change how things work out, but they almost all follow the formula - do THIS or do THAT. Now, I know and understand why this is so, but I do like to make use of any opportunity that is not A or B, Y or Z.

Edit: I really, really, really, wish I had an alternative to Bhelen or Harrowmont.

I sided with the werewolves! I figured the old man deserved it after all that time.

Exact same situation here, all my 3 times I had zathrian sacrifice himself to lift the curse, next time I am going for the "evil" route for sure, siding with the templars, werewolves and branka.

The problem I had with siding with the werewolves is that it condemns them to always be werewolves. Also why do I have to wipe out a whole clan of elves because of their leader? Nor do I see the purpose in killing off all the werewolves for no reason. I take the curselifting option which is the best of the outcomes. But it depends on the PC you are rping.

Exactly.

But in my current run thru, I will kill the elves all the same

Well . . .

I hate Elves

I hate Zathrian

I hate the Dalish for being so damn suspicious

Did I mention I hate elves?

I really don't need an army of 50 archers

Yup, werewolves.

Charging into the Dalish camp running a pike through any elf that gets in the way is plenty more fun than killing the werewolves. Especially Elora or whatever the halla keeper's name is.

I have played with both. I found the eleves to be quite useful in battle. Did not have to use any other group and lost only 6 through the whole final battle including guarding the gates. The werewolves were not quite as resilient.

Side with Zathrian kill the wolves, and turn around and kill Zathrian. He will be weak, at half health and he drops a nice staff when he dies.

The werewolf ending was a letdown. I was hoping they would eventually cope with being werewolves, develop their own culture, and become respected members of Ferelden society.

Thedas for the moment lacks a bestial race, the werewolves would've fit the bill perfectly.

And here I thought after all this time that " Ferelden humans" were that impulse driven, smelly  feral race!

my world is shattered ;)

They're werewolves, good for Pwning Darkspawn troopers, should leave the Archdemon to you anyhow.

Fighting alongside Swiftrunner when fighting the Arch demon is just plain awesome.

*spoiler alert*

I'm pretty sure he even shows up at your funeral during the ultimate sacrifice ending if you side with him.
