Hey Community,

got an issue with ME3 MP here.
Me and my brother we both love the MP mode and due to the last DLCs improvements we thought lets buy another digital copy now that there is an Halloween special offer and stuff and so we did. New Origin Profile created a brand new Laptop, bought the game, installed, patched and loaded the DLCs.

So we both logged in to the Origin, launched the game and tried a private match. Now the problem: I cant join him. Whenever I try to accept his invitation to the game, I can select my MP character, click join and the loading screen appears. "Joining game..." - and this doesnt quit. It stays forever, only way to exit is kill the application. Same appears when he tries to join me. The game isnt freezing as the taskmanager shows and there are moving animations on the loading screen. It just wont connect.
He also cant really play MP - as all servers he joins will close shortly after or the game will freeze on joining.

Our PCs are standing in the same room, we are both connetced to the same switch leading to one router. The router gives out multiple IPs. That much to our network.

Any ideas what I could do?

I'm no networking expert... but I fear what you're trying to do is not possible.
You can't set the ports to forward to in Mass Effect and you can't both connect to the host on the same port. Every computer on the network needs its own unique set of ports.
Unless bioware has some hidden way of changing the ports I don't think it's possible.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I don't mean to ruin you or your brother's day. :(
However your best bet might be to lobby bioware to hire some smarter people for their networking department...

edit: please see next posts!

I had the same problem, what fixed it for me:

Port forward UDP 3659 / 5669 / 6000.
Join Origin / ME3 (if you're host) AFTER your friend is logged in. I know it dosen't seem to make any sense, but it's the only way I can play (host). It seems the host must be the last to join origin and ME3.

what do you know....
And that works without disconnects / desync ?

I don't see how ea servers could tell the difference between the data it receives... something in UPnP that helps with that?

edit: Ok so now the way I understand it, as long as UPnP is enabled and working, only the host will need ports forwarded. So make sure UPnP is enabled. Old/poor routers may have poor UPnP implementations.

sorry for any misleading info Image IPB
