Will adding Protheans to MP REALLY make that much of a difference?

To be honest, I don't want them in MP. They'll just make Javik and his story seem less important. (I can't think of the right word. Image IPB) But, this isn't about that.

If they add Protheans, all they will be is a new skin, new voice, possibly new powers or just old ones.

Will that REALLY make the game that much better? You're dividing a community in two. (Pro-lore and anti-lore. Lol Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 is teaching me so much about civil wars.)

People will just get bored of them and see them as just another class. Others will get mad and rage that they are breaking lore. (Again, to be honest, adding Protheans isn't breaking lore because Bioware creates the lore. They can make it rain ponies on Palaven and we can't say anything about it since it's their game.)

tl;dr: Protheans are just a character skin that will not be worth the trouble.

Multiplayer is already not lore friendly but people will claim putting multiplayer protheans would ruin Javik and his uniqueness.

Anything that will breathe life into MP. To me, ME3 MP is great, but it can't help but get boring and I don't want to see it die..

Javik is my favorite ME3 squadmate, both for his character and story. I am a hardcore lore nerd, and when something contradictory happens I rage with the best of them. I understand what adds and subtracts weight to a narrative (in fact, most of my threads in the SP forum involve me fussing about the narrative in one way or another).

But multiplayer is SUPPOSED to be stupid fun. I just spent three hours defending pumpkins from robo-zombies whilst splashing through acid rain puddles in my shiny pink armor.

Bring on the goddamned Protheans.

New characters will liven it up for a few days but a new game mode is the only real thing that could revive it a great deal.

That's the main thing with me too. Javik was pretty much all about him dealing with being the last of his kind. If they added more protheans it'd completely invalidate him.

It'd be like if at the end of ME2 you discover that all of Garrus' Archangel squad miraculously survived, it'd completely invalidate his entire story arc.

Not exactly, I think. One could argue it has been established Javik is the last Prothean and thus, adding more would break lore. Adding more elements to lore (like your example) isn't lore-breaking. Going against previously established pieces of said lore is, no matter who made such a thing.

I do, however, agree with the rest you said.

They actually stated that Javik is the last? I thought that all we had to go on is that Javik is the only currently alive Prothean that has been found. They could say that Prothean stasis pods were found and Protheans are joining the fight against the Reapers. I don't think it's lore-breaking but I do believe it invalidates Javik's storyline and a bit of his character.

I honestly can't believe anyone cares that much about the storyline anymore. It's over. It was unimpressive to say the least. Just enjoy the fun of MP-- I used to only visit story forums-- now I hardly do because everyone is too paralyzed with grief to move on and accept the fate of the ME universe.

Love the MP. So, at this point? Whatever. Go ahead. We have Volus now, so bring on some Protheans. I kinda don't care at this point, though I used to be opposed to the idea.

Do the multiplayer Protheans at least call everybody primitives, including their teammates?

Them not doing that would be more of an outrage than the lore thing, honestly.

People who keep saying Javik is the last prothean period need to remember how goddamn big the galaxy is. Look at how the Leviathans hid away all those millions of years!

Anyway, seriously, Javik's story is only devalued if he ever runs into another prothean, which he clearly doesn't do during the course of ME3. He is still a very deep and sympathetic character regardless, and he won't magically stop being a tragic douchebag just because some goons over in the Terminus systems cracked open a few stasis pods.

Oh yeah, and let's not forget how many people wangsted about how Javik's presence devalued the prothean legacy, or how Legion robbed the geth of their alien mystique. Hell, I still think EDI's sexbot body was a stupid idea, but they went and did that, didn't they? At this point, screw it--I'll play as a frickin' unicorn if it's fun and kills Reapers.

I don't remember such a statement, no. I was responding to the premise "adding X isn't breaking lore because BioWare creates lore", should have clarified that. :)

Personally, I would LOVE to see them added. Hell even if it was just a re-skinned fury. Why you ask? Becouse I like to stir up the pot with my spoon, and would love to watch the lorefreaksfreakout. So yes it matters, even if only for entertainment value on the forum here.

But I think it would kick ass, especially if you got a +50% PPR damage bonus as a racial passive! Yes, excessive I know but, hell why not!

I mean no offense, but wasn't the majority of this argument also used against the Volus? Especially the part about their inclusion being a divisive point within the fanbase.

Whenever I see discussions on lore and MP in BSN, I always think about the Battlefield 3 Soldier.
