To be honest, I kinda wanna roleplay as Javik and troll all the asari players.
I AM YOUR GOD, BLUE ONE. YOU SHOULD BE WORSHIPING ME.
CRY MORE ABOUT YOUR HOMEWORLD.
SORRY, I CAN'T HEAR YOU OVER THE SOUND OF ME CRUSHING ALL YOUR DREAMS.
Will adding Protheans to MP REALLY make that much of a difference?

Javik is my favorite ME3 squadmate, both for his character and story. I am a hardcore lore nerd, and when something contradictory happens I rage with the best of them. I understand what adds and subtracts weight to a narrative (in fact, most of my threads in the SP forum involve me fussing about the narrative in one way or another).
But multiplayer is SUPPOSED to be stupid fun. I just spent three hours defending pumpkins from robo-zombies whilst splashing through acid rain puddles in my shiny pink armor.
Bring on the goddamned Protheans.

so they damn well better add in Uzi wielding Circus Seals, half naked Bananas with machetes, space ninjas riding space camels, a coked out volus on a skateboard, and Tony Hawk eating ice cream.
ME3MP has NOTHING to do with ME3SP. LETS HAVE SOME FUN!
holiday fun =/= lore issues.

Unless they made a side Multiplayer set in the Prothean era fighting Reapers, restricted to Prothean characters. That would be awesome.

Why do the people asking for Protheans not just ask for Collector Thralls instead? It's lore friendly AND they're new characters.

No, don't add Protheans, it WILL cheapen Javik's character and just be stupid, seriously hundreds or thousands of Protheans fighting across the galaxy? With Javik all lamenting over the fact that he's the last? Ridiculous.

neither sounds appealing.
a prothean as a promo or bonus character in a game that isnt Mass Effect 3: Galaxy at War.....no problem.

People who keep saying Javik is the last prothean period need to remember how goddamn big the galaxy is. Look at how the Leviathans hid away all those millions of years!
Anyway, seriously, Javik's story is only devalued if he ever runs into another prothean, which he clearly doesn't do during the course of ME3. He is still a very deep and sympathetic character regardless, and he won't magically stop being a tragic douchebag just because some goons over in the Terminus systems cracked open a few stasis pods.
Oh yeah, and let's not forget how many people wangsted about how Javik's presence devalued the prothean legacy, or how Legion robbed the geth of their alien mystique. Hell, I still think EDI's sexbot body was a stupid idea, but they went and did that, didn't they? At this point, screw it--I'll play as a frickin' unicorn if it's fun and kills Reapers.

If you don't want Protheans, that's fine. Just don't go around pretending that you have rational reasons for your opinion, because it is demonstrably clear that you do not.

However I didn't want Volus in either and I think they implemented them pretty well and now I think they were a great addition, so I'll not be upset if they go with the crazies and put in an extinct race.

Multiplayer is already not lore friendly but people will claim putting multiplayer protheans would ruin Javik and his uniqueness.
Yep. The integrity of the MP's connection to the SP lore has already been compromised. It's just a matter of what the lore-hugging nut jobs are willing to overlook. Obviously, the inclusion of Protheans would be too much for them. I don't care either way.

To be honest, I don't want them in MP. They'll just make Javik and his story seem less important. (I can't think of the right word.) But, this isn't about that.
If they add Protheans, all they will be is a new skin, new voice, possibly new powers or just old ones.
Will that REALLY make the game that much better? You're dividing a community in two. (Pro-lore and anti-lore. Lol Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 is teaching me so much about civil wars.)
People will just get bored of them and see them as just another class. Others will get mad and rage that they are breaking lore. (Again, to be honest, adding Protheans isn't breaking lore because Bioware creates the lore. They can make it rain ponies on Palaven and we can't say anything about it since it's their game.)
tl;dr: Protheans are just a character skin that will not be worth the trouble.
Ya lost me.

It's actually related 'cause MP is featuring battles of N7 around the galaxy
that are happening while Shepard is doing his jobs.
That's why you get readiness bonus from it.
Just so you know, that's a fact.
But, personally, I don't really care about lore.

Heck, even the majority of ME1's lore - the game that is said to have the best story in the trilogy, was based around the fact that the Protheans are dead, and not coming back.
Adding an infinite army of them without warning would retroactively hurt the lore for all three games, not just ME3. Doing something similar as to how 343 Industries/Bungie did with the Forerunners in Halo as of Halo 4, though, could be feasible.
That said, I would not be in favour of it.
Besides, if ME4 does take place after the main trilogy, how would we explain/react to the Protheans walking around the galaxy acting like normal citizens with no prelude to explain it? It just isn't going to work.

Whenever I see discussions on lore and MP in BSN, I always think about the Battlefield 3 Soldier.
Why? He's just a normal alliance soldier with a new skin..... With the title "Battlefield 3 Soldier". It's just a cross-promotion or whatever they call it.

You really need to learn what "refute" means.
All of that will hurt Javik's character or plain contradict canon. Clone Javik? At what point of the story did that happen and why did Javik not mention it? Why even give that speech about being the last voice of the Protheans when he knows full well that he isn't?
Same with any other situation that finds enough Protheans to put them straight into front line war. Why does Javik never mention this? It's not like this massive piece of information would just be completely ignored by the news, the Normandy, a Prothean expert who has spent half her life researching them/the Shadow Broker.
The reason I, and many others, don't want Protheans is the same reason I don't want playable unicorns that shoot magic. Maybe you don't care about lore, especially single player lore, but a lot of us here do.
