The game is running fine through Castle Cousland, pretty smooth and very nice. When I move onto Ostagar and after I go through the initial chat and I am free to move about the area, the game crashes, or should I say my computer crashes and reboots. I have tried new drivers, old drivers, lowering settings and reinstalling, without any luck. Odd though I can go through Castle Cousland with all different types of characters, but cannot really do anything in Ostagar.
Any suggestions?

Do you get an error message at all, or does it completely reboot with no prior message? Your video card might be overheating, or might just be getting dusty. Make sure the computer is off and take out the video card and blow through the slot it was in to blow out any excess dust that might be in there, same with the card, then replace the card and boot the computer again.
If that solves nothing, go into Start menu -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer, and click on the 'Application' and 'System' selections on the left in that window. Are there any logs of a problem during the timeframe of the crash? Double-click any you find and paste the contents in here and I can try to help.

**** that stinks.
I better leave this thread before I say something unpolitic.
Keep posting system details though anyone that posts with issues. Data miners need info.

I am also getting the exact same error.
The first time I got into the zone, I was able to wander about, talk to the guard about the locked up tower, talk to the mage there, the other recruit that was hitting on the female guard, and then buy/sell from the Quartermaster.
I then tried to run toward the crowd gathered around the preaching person on the scaffolding, and my computer hard locked. Nothing was going to the monitor anymore. The CPU was running, but I could not do anything but hard reset my computer.
At that time, I was using Catalyst 9.6. So, first thing I did was updated my Catalyst to 9.10.
Now when I restarted (now just past where you start in the zone, due to me not quick saving), the game will stay up about 2-3 seconds before the issue happens again. Several restarts and retries has it repeating without fail. I tried to do it both in Full Screen and Windowed mode with the same results.

looks like there's a compatibility or driver issue with the chipset, it might take waiting for the next driver updates to fix it :-/

I played for about 3 hours with no problem at all, saved game and came back 2 hours later and all of a sudden I can't play for about 5 seconds and my monitor says it has no signal and I have to reboot.
I can still hear the game running in the background but I lose the picture.I know that it sounds like Graphics card, motherboard or Psu but I can play any other game without any problems and never had problems before that.Happening in the Ostagar.Running a 3870 also.
I have been running stress tests, checking temps, switching out ram, rolling back drivers(Already had newest ones) and everything else I can think of but my comp passes everything just fine until I reload the game.

I've got a 4870X2 and the game won't even get past the initial startup screen. I click on and get teh msg that I don't have a recognised graphics card. Latest drivers, etc (sigh)

That's a lot of Radeon 3000 series cards. If that turns out to be the case hopefully the next driver will fix the issue or EA might be able to get AMD to issue a hotfix or issue one them selves.

Not sure what the problem is guys, my game is running fine for me and I have a Radeon HD 5750 with a Corsair 650w PSU. Perhaps you could try lowering graphic levels or upgrading your cards?

It might also be something with the CPU, or CPU and video card combination? The game causes my CPU to be constantly at 100% use no matter what. So maybe the video cards aren't overheating, but the processor is? I have the AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Windsor 3.2GHz Socket AM2 125W Dual-Core Processor... so an AMD CPU and 2 Radeon 3870 video cards. Guess this game hates AMD/ATI

Seems like a Radeon card problem as that seems a major constant through all the posts

I lived with a similar problem across all games for years before I figured out it was the motherboard FSB speed that needed to be dropped. Doubt you guys are overclocking but maybe that sheds some light, i.e. power or a chipset problem?
