However, rolling back the drivers seemed to solve the crashing issue for a couple hours, until the BSOD made an unexpected appearance, and now my computer won't even boot (neither normally nor from my Vista disk).
I'm baffled as to how it could have had such an effect, but even after I repair my system (which has never had any problems in its year and a half, and runs Crysis for hours at a time without a hitch), I doubt I'll be trying to run this again until patches or drivers make themselves available.
At least I now have motivation to install Windows 7 though, since I'll be at it anyway!

Is it sad when you wish for CTDs? At least you can restart the game right away, not the whole pc.
I have 2 HD 4850s Vista 32

I played for about 3 hours with no problem at all, saved game and came back 2 hours later and all of a sudden I can't play for about 5 seconds and my monitor says it has no signal and I have to reboot.
I can still hear the game running in the background but I lose the picture.I know that it sounds like Graphics card, motherboard or Psu but I can play any other game without any problems and never had problems before that.Happening in the Ostagar.Running a 3870 also.
I have been running stress tests, checking temps, switching out ram, rolling back drivers(Already had newest ones) and everything else I can think of but my comp passes everything just fine until I reload the game.
I am for the most part having the exact same problem.
Played for about 3 hours as well, stopped, installed the red dragon armor and the other free one. Tried to log in to see if it was there and a nice reboot a few seconds later. Also running a HD3870 (OC edition) latest drivers for everything.
Some help from the techs at bioware or EA would be nice.
edit:
i am also in Ostagar, as are many of the people having trouble.

crazy how many people are having the same issue and have the same card or atleast a ATI/AMD vid card . obviously seems to be the root of the problem , i hope it gets fixed soon .

played again for about 45 mins with a dale elf this time got just past the first major section and it dropped out again to the low power mode screen. Worked perfectly the entire time before that.
I am loving what i have been able to play, and want to keep going. Opening areas seem to work fine with the noble dwarf (until Ostogar) and the dale elf (until the Pyre scene).
Tested the card on Crysis, ran it perfectly, no crashes, same with AoC on max.

1920 x 1200 Widescreen.
ATI 3850. Catalyst 9.9 drivers.
Quad-core CPU.
Slowly tamping down graphics quality to see if it helps, but it's only taking it 5-10 seconds to crash.

The tech section here just says it's for self help and to use EA tech support for issues, which isn't a good thing.Be nice if Bioware would at least say they are looking into it.

As long as I can play with the one video card and the PC doesn't crash anymore I will be happy. So far the game is great.
My specs are: AMD Phenom 4850, 2-ATI HD 4850's in Crossfire, 4GB RAM, Windows 7 Professional x64.

Q6600
ATI 3870
Vista x32
In my case, I got all the way to the quartermaster in Ostagar before I had the first "monitor off" hard crash.
Now, I cannot even load the saved game without the same crash occurring. This was with both the 8.12 ATI drivers (I was way behind) and 9.10 driver set.
