I wan't to make an Aragorn look alike. However, there is no hair options that even comes close to his long crazy hair that covers his ears along with a good portion of his face. I would also like to make better beards and moustaches. We can currently create goatees etc but they are textures that are pretty much flush with the characters face. I wan't something that looks more realistic.
Would I need to make my own hair in something like 3ds max? if so, how would someone export it?
How do you make custom hair?

There's a mod out there http://www.dragonage...file.php?id=392 which adds some hairstyles.
Making your own hair would require modeling them in application like 3ds Max, yes. If you check the projects on this site there's currently export scripts available for Blender and Max, although i don't know how functional they are.

Till now, i guess that the only way to insert new "models" into the game/addins is to use Blender with Blender script made by New by Power project.
Another way, that maybe can work with hair, is to follow the Tutorial on how to insert a custom model you can find in Toolset wiki.

No, Blender isn't the only way. Both ChewyGumball and tazpn have tools for making game-compatible meshes and both are further along in development than NewByPower's. ChewyGumball's is an export script for 3DS Max/GMax, tazpn's is a standalone tool that can convert FBX/OBJ/DAE/3DS into game-useable models, as well as convert game MSH/MMH files into those formats.

Yes there are their tools too, but i don't know if now exist a mod with complex geometry created with this tools. If you know one i would like to know it.
So what tool do you suggest LyonVanguard to use? And he must expect no trouble?
