I reinstalled Mass Effect 1 on a new PC after the HDD on the original PC died. The save works okay but i have a problem with the background sound. Basically the background sound is so loud i can not hear what the characters are saying.
The only solution is to turn the background sound to zero then i can hear what the characters are saying but there is no background sound. Has anybody any idea what is causing the problem or what is the solution to this.
My setup
Windows XP service pack 3
Asus M3A Motherboard
Asus 6670 GPU
AMD Athlon 64 X26000
Realtec On board sound
Mass effect is patched up to date.
Thanks

Well if anybody is interested the solution to my problem is quite simple. I checked the settings and it seems my sound was set to Hardware. I set it to Software and the problem is solved and the sound is normal.
If you are still having problems Billywaffles try that. Worked for me.
