I am interested in other players perspective on the reason they continue to play the mass effect multiplayer.  I enjoyed the Mass Effect series of games, and with the ending to Mass Effect 3, felt a strong desire to continue the experience.  I decided to try my hand at multiplayer for the first real time.  The multiplayer experience was a bit scary at first, but I was fortunate to find a friend early on that helped me quite a bit with character builds and strategy.  Today, I would say I am an okay player when compared to most.

The Mass Effect Multiplayer has kept my interest over the last few months through the various additions offered by Bioware such as new maps, new characters, new enemies, new weapons, new challenges and even pumpkins on halloween. :) But one thing I have noticed is the fact that through the multiplayer, I have found a really cool group of friends.  The friends I have reside in countries basically around the world.  I have gotten to know most of them as more than just someone I play Mass Effect with.  I have even noticed when we are on silver we are running around killing enemies, but mostly we are chatting about what has been going on.  The friends I have found through multiplayer would definitely be on me list of reasons I continue to play the game.

How about you, why are you still playing?Image IPB

For me, it's because of the great teammates and the laughs. PUGs are also fun in small doses. I also really like playing some of the character/classes, like the Fury, HE and AV.

I always liked ME combat and wanted a way to play combat just for the combat, without starting a new playthrough, a pinnacle station that works. The MP fit this role perfectly. Plus, the constant additions on the game keep it fresh and interesting..

Playing the multiplayer for a few reasons:

1. I love the Mass Effect trilogy. I've been with it since the beginning and I couldn't just drop it. I haven't even started the campaign on Mass Effect 3 because I hate completing games too quickly and the multiplayer has been so addictive and new stuff is added often enough to keep me happy.

2. The multiplayer interested me when I first heard about it. I won't lie, I was very worried that it would ruin the epic and immersive single player experience but after playing it for a couple of days I became hooked.

3. The fact that the multiplayer is co-op and team-orientated is such a big thing for me. PvP multiplayer would have killed this and I personally enjoy co-op online much more and find it more appealing than most others.

4. The unlock system (despite the odd rage moment) keeps me coming back for me as I'm determined to get absolutely everything unlocked. That, in turn, keeps me playing and keeps me enjoying the experience. The fact that BioWare are so involved with their multiplayer and continue to impress me with their updates will keep me playing the multiplayer for some time yet.

It gives me my shooter fix without the pressure that comes with competitive play. You are always playing against yourself more than other players in the atypical competitive scene: fighting your own habits, making new ones, increasing your own reaction time, practice practice practice.

With ME3's Multiplayer I can slide into a setting I love, play an alien race(s) I adore, and relax. It's the game I use to wind down in the evenings as opposed to my more competitive venues (Which I still partake in)

I like the randomness of each match, and the learning curve the game has. It keeps me interested because of the store system (yes random is annoying, but it DOES keep you playing), different kits and guns, etc...

And when you find a team that works really well together, it's beautiful.

Don't even.

Seriously, don't. I didn't come here for spoilers so I'll ask politely that people don't spoil it for me ^_^

I play for a few reasons.

For one - I like to kill digital baddies. The hallmark of a professional killer is piles of corpses with their heads blown open - faces locked in mute terror forever, and the walls smeared with fresh coatings of brains.

I also play because I have some friends who love running and gunning. Its not just about the body count - its about enjoying Mass Effect, grumping about the endings, and having a blast.

I find it taps into some sort of basic addictive and hoarding part of my personality.
I never intended to really play the multiplayer, it just came with the single player campaign.    I only tried the MP one day in order to increase my readiness.  That was close to 6 months ago.  Now every time I start up the game thinking I'll go a bit farther on the SP... I see that readiness rating... and it's not at 100%... and I NEED it to be 100%...
Also, it's fun!  Image IPBImage IPBImage IPBImage IPBImage IPBImage IPB

Heh that question got me thinking.

At first I was playing ME MP for keeping my EMS high. Till last MP update I didn't have much interest with MP as I am probably one of the worst FPS players you can find.

After update and introduction of challanges, I thought "what the heck!" and gave it a go. Now I found different things to enjoy on MP. I have a character I love. I found alternative weapons to play with instead of my old trusty Avenger. I could even manage to solo two Bronze games which is great achievement for me.

In general I think most enjoyable part of MP is same with ME 2 and 3. Every fight feels different. Different weapons, different classes, different powers and on MP, different team mates. As a MMO player I fall into casual and altisis type so leveling my characters on Bronze matches are fun.

I hated the notion that there should even BE a multiplayer when I heard about it. I was enraged. Now, I play it because truth be told, I rather enjoy it. Perhaps a bit too much... just under 600 hours of play.

I was starting to get worn down just because Gold PUGs are often so bad, but I ended up with a good couple of players, ended up getting a FR and playing matches with new people (who frequent this forum), adding a few from here as well. Playing with good players that can hold their own is much, much better. It's nice not having to think that if I go down, the match is probably going to spiral into nothingness very quickly.
