I find it taps into some sort of basic addictive and hoarding part of my personality.
I never intended to really play the multiplayer, it just came with the single player campaign. I only tried the MP one day in order to increase my readiness. That was close to 6 months ago. Now every time I start up the game thinking I'll go a bit farther on the SP... I see that readiness rating... and it's not at 100%... and I NEED it to be 100%...
Also, it's fun!
I definitely agree with the addictive part. I have found myself staying up too late and getting up early to play!! It is fun and the challenges make me feel like I have accomplished something when I get a banner

I hated the ending, but that doesn't change the fact that I adored the other 99.9% of the series.
As for multiplayer... well, I didn't even want it in Mass Effect at all to begin with, but it's turned out to be one of the deepest multiplayer games I've ever played. It has all the classes and gameplay that I loved about the single-player campaigns, but it lasts forever.

Escapism.
Pure and simple.
I'm already invested in it and don't have the time or energy to invest in another game right now.
Being absolutely swamped with reports, Retaking tests (and failing them again), Job training and other stuff I really don't even have the time to play or even have leisure.
Least if I do a mission or 2 every now and then I can forget that I have 8 reports to write 2 due next week and after that a report a week... While doing the job training... Just venting and ranting at this point...
I am so screwed... so screwed.

The End.
I win.
If you play and it's not fun to you, you are a masochist

Good thing she sucks with computers or she might see this. If anyone reading can, please send help. I fear no death, but death by Predator... what would my children think?

I find it is a good escape for me. When I come home and start a match, I pretty much forget about everything thing else. Even in a gold match, it still seems to relax me. Sounds kinda weird doesn't it?
Seriously though, you sound like a very responsible person that has a lot going that will pay off for you in the end. Good luck to you and I would play with you anytime!

I'm just stressed out... a lot.
I like being responsible but there are times I just blow up pure aggression in the missions.
That's also why I don't like playing with people I know or talk too much in missions. I may say something like ''out of missiles, use yours please'', but that's kinda it. Not much of a wisecrack in missions.
Although I haven't been this stressed out since... I dunno 2-3 years.
So maybe should take a break from the missions. Other peoples eardrums might be saved...
Oh and if this **** pays off someday it'll be a goddamn miracle. The quality of our curriculum feels like pure murder atm... and spring is worse. A test where out of 42 people only 2 people pass should kind of raise some alarm bells in the ****ing facualty!!
Gah sorry rave and rant and derail. Thanks for the kind words dood.

I am in college and I work, so I love the MP in ME3 because I can game with fellow peeps, but I don't become overly absorbed for hours like I do in Skyrim. In fact, I have to lay off Skyrim until this semester is over. Then I will pick up my Dragonborn persona once more!! =P Fus Ro Dah!!
You haven't experienced Skyrim untill you've modded it so badly it doesn't run or start anymore unless you're jabbing it with Script extender, FUS ROH DAHED Lydia off Throat of the world and my favorite PUNCHED A DRAGON IN THE FACE!

I like the variety of characters, weapons and builds. I play mix and match all the time. With the new challenge system, I can now track some of what I've done. That was a big upgrade for me. I love the teamwork when it's good. I like taking mixes others suggest and trying them out. Adapting them to my style or adapting my style to a particular weapon or skill.
For me, the manifest is not an end unto itself, it is a means to open up new ways to play the game.
I like taking a character from level 1 to level 20 and the different play style required along that journey.
To distill it all down, variety and teamwork make it fun for me and having fun is why I play.
