No screen tearing sounds great. Screen tearing ruins games for me, but anyway this sounds like the ME2 release. Lots of divisions on how the game performs, but since many of you are saying they've only experienced some minor issues, I'll chance it and buy it. It can't be any worse than the experience I had with ME1 on the PC (not bashing the PC, I just have a bad graphics card).

Have to say that this whole experience is pretty bad.
EA decided to release a trilogy...in two parts. Who's the genius who thunk that one up?
If games are meant to be 'art', then that just tells you that EA didn't think that the first game was very important at all for the story...more important was to get your money for the sequels.
Now some genius thinks it was important to have the first part of the trilogy on PS3.
One of these geniuses should be sacked.
My two bobs worth...it was important to get the whole trilogy on PS3...duh...so sack the guy who thought it wasn't.
Thanks EA for stuffing me around like this.
QUESTION:
If you download ME1 off PSN in Australia, will your saves for that carry over into the next game?
It's annoying that I'll have to go through the grind of mining all over again in ME2 if the ME1 saves do carry over. And if they don't...who's the genius who thought that wouldn't be a good idea to have in the trilogy? And who's going to be genius who decides it is a good idea...in over 12 months time?
Once again, thankyou EA, from the heart of my bottom.

After playing it for three hours, here are my impressions: the image looks sharper and less grainy than the 360 version, fewer pop-ins too. Controls seem about the same, and I haven't hit any frame rate issues at all. Only twice did I notice horrible lip syncing. The worst part is the save times. Feels like double the time it took on Xbox... which seems to be a consistent problem with PS3 ports in my experience.
Overall, it's still ME1. It's not blowing me away, and it wasn't the perfectly polished product I had hoped for, but they didn't drop the ball either. It works. And that makes me content,

The fact that Mass Effect 1 is now allowed to be released on PS3 means that EA must have pulled some really long strings and made a really sweet deal with Microsoft for them to allow ME1 on PS3. I can only guess how much cash EA had to shell out to MS in order to get ME1.
Now please stop posting. You make yourself look like a fool every time you post. Go do some research next time before you decide to hit that submit button. (Oh and FYI ME1 saves do transfer over to ME2 on PS3 once you have installed the new ME2 patch. Like I said, go do some research before you post up non-sensical rants). You should considder yourself lucky that you can play ME1 on PS3 now. I know that EA is not one of the more pleasant game companies out there but you should thank them for pulling the strings required to get ME1 on PS3. It could not have been easy (or cheap for that matter).
About 7GB, not sure about the install size, but I'm guessing it'll be roughly 4GB - same as the disc version.GreyWardenNathan wrote...

I'm confused about the EU release. The store updates a day later than the US store (that means today), yet we're supposed to get it on the 7th. How's that gonna work? I've never seen new content in the PS store other than the day it gets updated.

I haven't noticed too many issues with my copy, just the lipsync being off in the beginning of a cutscene, but one or two lines and the visuals are caught up to the dialogue. Haven't noticed any texture loading issues or screen-tearing and the load times are better on ME than ME3.
The onyl issues I'm having so far is that my PSN and Origin accoutns won't sync up properly.
