I have been excited to the release of the original Mass Effect on the PS3 since I heard the announcement. Dec 4th can't come fast enough!! I am looking forward to taking my Mako for a spin again.

Porting a game properly to a different system takes quite some time.
They started with this port around April and they've just finished not so long ago. And then there's certification, which take additional time but the game passed that recently as well. After that there's just manufacturing the discs, manual etc and shipping the game.
But at least, that's why the PS3 Version wasn't released the same day as PC and Xbox360 which didn't require any additional work for porting as there was already a working copy of ME1 out to put in the Trilogy Box.

No the release is still 7.12. here.
Don't believe what stores fabricate just because they haven't heard the announcement of the release date.
And it wouldn't make much sense to release the game all over Europe on December 7th and only in Ireland weeks later. Would be rather weird to release a game on New Year's Eve anyway. Looks more like a placeholder that the shop was speculating with "this year" but didn't knew when exactly.
And dates like the February release were just a speculation before there was an official announcement. Shops tend to rather put a speculated date on their sites than no date at all.

Don't worry, you can all play the game on Christmas (or before)

Wait... That article said that Pinnacle Station is available for free "just like it has been on PC". I had to pay for it when I bought Mass Effect on Origin a couple months ago.

Granted, that does seem like some mixed signals are being shown here... Speaking of mixed signals, why are you commenting about Pinnacle Station on a thread about a version of Mass Effect 1 that won't even GET Pinnacle Station?

what do you mean MGS4 takes up space? the game saves or did they release the full game on PSN?

^I think he's referring to the install. After the latest patch, you can opt to fully install the title so that it doesn't install between acts. The total install is about 10GB. I recently got a 320GB PS3. (My old 80GB fat one died ) so I'm good to go!

Haven't read all the posts but does anybody know if the pc version of ME1 has been remastered? My old copy handles poorly on my system!

I doubt it, I think the ps3 version will look the same as the pc version difference being that fewer bugs/glitches that sorta thing

since they had to use a different engine for ME1 will that change the graphics look for how it looked on PC and XBOX 360? or will it look about the same?
