I just finished my first playthrough and I totally loved the game. After all the negative ending hype, I thought I would hate the game. I played ME2 but didn't go too deeply into the lore, so maybe that's why the ending didn't bother me at all. Going to download some DLC's and play again. Sometimes ignorance truly is bliss I guess!
Glad you enjoyed the game! The ending didn't bother me either, but yes, definitely feel free to get some DLC and dive right back in.

well you certainly learned a great lesson, NEVER pay attention to fan feedback, because most of them tend to be full of ****, ungrateful pyjaks with entitlement issues who think the world revolves around them, as you can easily tell by simply skimming through the first couple pages of threads right here.
Mass Effect 3 is definitely a helluva game, and even 5-10 mediocre minutes at the very end cannot compete with hours and hours of awesomeness beforehand.

Part of the rage is because is "very similar" to Isaac Asimov's Limits of the Foundation book... AND first Deus Ex videogame.
Play and read those, re-see ending, take a thought, and ask yourself what happened.

I do think many games/movies get so over-hyped - that a let down almost always occurs,
But with ME2 and ME3 I loved the characters and the relationships, the visuals and the concepts and back stories were great. And that is more than enough for me! This is why I love the Bioware games.
I suppose that the level of passion people have - pro or con- speaks to the brilliance of the series, If players didn't think the series was great - no-one would care about the ending I guess.
As an aside, I am trying to avoid as much DA3 hype as I can! Just want to enjoy that game on its own merits!

It's so great how people can't allow others to like something that they don't.
They seemingly need to do everything they can't to make sure that the person hates it as much as they do.
It's absurd.

As for me, I just stared blankly at the screen. There was no emotional high or feeling of achievement like the first or second game had (moreso the first game). The EC remedied the situation somewhat but it's still a bitter ending for me.

Deus Ex Machina: God from the machine
Shepard is on his/her knees when Child emerges from the direction of the Crucible.
It is a kind of cool and wicked when you think it that way.

That sums up my own feelings pretty accurately
Overall, I enjoyed the game a lot, though. And yes, you're right in saying that the strong reaction is assumably indicative of our high appreciation for the series. To me and many others, this wasn't a proper Mass Effect ending. Oh, well, the series is still good and at least we've got an awesome ending in 2 out of 3 of the games

Maybe he doesnt want to read those books because he doesnt care about the bs, and just wants to enjoy ME the way it is. I played all three, and the ending was good enough for me. It has great action and sex, Its a F'n game wont change anything in the real world. Some poeple way over think this S***. Im glad you enjoyed it!
This will stand as an example for how not to overthink.
Keep your gray matter luke-warm my friends.

ME3 was awesome until the ending, but I agree, it is a really good game...just that ending.
I think I sort of went through all my stages of grief, so I plan on doing another playthrough of ME3 whenever I get the time. Maybe I'll see it a different way? I don't know.
Glad you enjoyed it though, if you enjoy it, have fun, no need to make yourself dislike the ending if you don't. I really wish I did enjoy the endings. :/ The extended cut sorta lessened the depression for me, but still...
Blegh, whatever, GLAD YOU ENJOYED THE GAME! I really mean it.
