It'll probably be a companion, or something else that they can lie about and say they only made it after the game went gold.<_<

@Robhuzz: My thoughts exactly. This is capitalism, afterall. Especially when it comes to EA. *spits*

There's going to be a Day One DLC pack for DA3, that I have no doubt in my mind. Given the track record, I would say this will be a optional companion, along with a recruitment quest. Where all of their dialogue will be already recorded and on the disc, cinematics fully fleshed out and on the disc, combat animations fully fleshed out and on the disc and all banter, conversations and NPC interactions already completed and on the disc... but there was one thing that couldn't be handled outside of a DLC. And it just always happens to be an uncompleted part of a non-crucial companion's storyline... seems highly unlikely unless they someone might have planned it that way... <_<

You know what would have cut down a LOT of that traffic? Just unlocking the content on disc in the first place.

Day one DLC will be the character creator. If you don't get it you'll have to play as the default character.
Edit: also the defualt character will be a caucasian male 2H warrior with brown hair, brown eyes and stubble.

Yes, it would be nice if BioWare had just given us Shale for free. She was an awesome companion and added quite a bit to the game once I got her.
But do I think BioWare ought to have given us the Stone Prisioner for free? No.

I have no problem with them putting DLC on the disk.
I can't believe people have forgotten how difficult downloading and installing the Stone Prisoner DLC was. The servers got hit with everyone who owned a copy attempting to download it at once and traffic slowed to a crawl. A lot of people installed their game, waited hours for the DLC to download, and then had error messages due to incomplete downloads or the program just having trouble installing. Meaning, they had to do it all again.
Edit: I have a bad internet connection, yes. I admit I'm being selfish here, but I don't see any benefit to keeping a character on the servers and making your download them as opposed to keeping them on the disk and just unlocking them.

Purchase the CE version of Dragon Age III Inquisition today and get "Sacred Ashes" DLC, which includes the last Griffon known in Thedas as it aids you on your quest, and learn secrets about Grey Warden past. Only $9.99.
Griffons are just animals, not a mysterious ancient civilization.plnero wrote...
It's obviously going to be griffins. Griffins are to Dragon Age as Protheans are to Mass Effect. My other guess is that you unlock a kitchen in your castle devoted to the making of wonderful cheese.

Yes, it is the lesser of two evils.Maclimes wrote...
Shale was not really "DLC". You got it free if you bought the game new. It was a tax on people who buy games used.
Which is WAY better than the proposed system of charging you outright to activate used games. At least with the Stone Prisoner method, you still get 95% of the game if you buy it used and don't pay extra.
That may have been the goal originally, but later they realized that they could sell a $10 DLC character alongside the main game at launch and make more money.Fast Jimmy wrote...
Maria, paying for a Collector's Edition is not getting something free. That's just pre-ordering your DLC.
And I dislike having to pre-order to get DLC. If the goal is really, as it was originally promoted, to prevent used game sales and pirates, why not just include it for all new game sales? Because they have stopped seeing it as a anti-piracy move and see it as dollar signs.
People have a problem with Day One DLC (an argument we've all had countless times, but hey... it's a day of the week ending in y, so why not have it again?) is that it is story-telling at a premium price. No book is released, no movie comes out, no TV show is aired with 'premium' content the first day they come out. You may have a director's cut DVD, an unabridged novel or a Behind The Scenes Look when you buy a season of a television series, but none of this is Day One.
Charging more for a 'better' story right out of the gate has and always will be looked at as shameful. No one likes feeling that someone else is watching something better than them just because they paid more.
DLC, as a model? I have no problem with. I don't participate, but I don't see a problem with it. It's only when it is released the very first day, right along side the 'vanilla' product that it is viewed, arguably rightly so, as nothing more than shameless, cash-grabbing greed.
