Would you rather have:
A) A Darkspawn companion
C) A Demon/Abomination companion
D) A Tevinter Mage companion
E) Other (give description)

This "attitude" you mention only exists in the minds of people who think they deserve DLC for free. It's business, pure and simple. If you want more, then pay more. I don't always have the money to afford DLC or special editions either, but I don't come on the forums to complain because I accept that I am not entitled to it.Ivandra Ceruden wrote...
Also, Plaintiff, not everybody's got access to DLC, as some poster above mentioned. It's not because you can get your hands on one that everybody can. But that doesn't matter, right?
If some people just can't access the special edition due to location, then that sucks for them, but Bioware can't help it if certain countries choose not to stock special editions of their games. There are hundreds of games released in Japan, for example that are not available in English speaking countries, and the opposite is also true. Are game comapnies then obligated to make their product available to every single country in the world, and take the time and money required to make localized versions, despite the lack of a viable market in that area, just because a few people on the internet might want it?

Since the general consensus seems to be a Companion Day One DLC (as usual), let's try and make things interesting.

I think the leaks mentioned a DLC companion.

If its something like a pet, a hat, or a side quest, I wont care. If it is major content, it will make me sick.
I have been playing Bioware since the first Baulders Gate and have played every release except DA2. (significant) Day one DLC is the absolute slimiest, most pathetic, most unprofessional, careless, game hurting trash in the entire industry.

Since I despise giving descriptions of a general character outline almost as much as I do reading about them I won't pick E.
Either C or D. Darkspawn are bore me to be honest, unless it's Corypheus. And from what I've read about Chevaliers, they sound just as boring or wholly unlikeable. We could get some really interesting lore from both C and D depending on their opinions and personalities.

Also, for those who propose Shale for a potential companion, remember that it (or she if you prefer) may have been left in Honnleath in the first place or being killed by the Warden. Or the Warden killed Wynne which obviously changed Shale's future a great deal.
So if you like consistency between the games, then you probably might not support Shale for DA3 even if you love that golem

and I bet it is a character planned as DLC as well, so the nay-sayers can stop speculating on it being cut content or not.

That would be a first. Javik wasn't originally planned as DLC. It doesn't matter anyway, because they are still asking you to pay for content that is mostly on the disc already.LinksOcarina wrote...

Why does it matter if it's on the disc or not? There have been plenty of times when games have been shipped with unfinished coding: features, characters and quests that had been planned to be included, but were cut for various reasons. Remnants still exist in the game and can be accessed by people who have the know-how.Atakuma wrote...

According to the logic most people in this thread are using, prior to DLC, all games were incomplete, and since the issue persists, all games are still incomplete and always will be, regardless of whether or not you buy the DLC.

It matters because it isn't unfinished, it was intentionally done that way.Plaintiff wrote...

Whether it was by design or not is really beside the point. The argument against DLC, at least in this thread, is that game companies should be releasing "the whole game". People wrongly perceive these Day 1 extras as part of the "core experience", and something that they are inherently entitled to, particularly when the content is present on the game disc.Atakuma wrote...

The fact that there is inaccesible content on all game discs, always has been and always will be, renders this line of argument invalid.
People seem to be under the impression that if DLC had never been thought up, characters like Sebastian and Javik and so on would just be present in the game at no extra cost. This is not the case. They could just as likely never be planned, or wind up as discarded remnants of code.
If these additional characters are being pre-planned as DLC, then that means the developers are doing extra work that they would not otherwise be doing. It's only right and fair to charge extra money for it.
