I am sure this has been answered before but where is the ring of wizardry in Baldur's Gate?

I am pretty sure I usually have it before I leave to return to Candlekeep but, I haven't got it this time round.

Unless you have Hard Times or Item Randomizer installed, it can be found on the mage Sunin. He's in a building along the southern wall (a building between a tavern and a weapons shop) in the SW sector.

Just to confirm that there are those 2 rings in the game.  If you like seeing lots of spells available try making Edwin into a sorceror and giving both of them to him.  I've had him walking round with 32 magic missile spells per dayPosted Image.

Interesting.. I have to say I've never not found it there myself, vanilla, patched, bugfixed, whatever. And, significantly, it is there in BG:EE, which leads me to suspect it is part of the original core BG game.

I believe it was introduced in ToSC but I could be wrong.

Quite possibly, as BG:EE includes TOSC. When I said "original core BG game", I should have said "original core BG game incorporating TOSC".

I have never been able to find a ring of wizardry in a tree near the Friendly Arm Inn despite being told this before.

I am playing original 5 disc BG expanded to ToSC.

Where exactly would I find it?

Also, thanks for all the replies, certainly seems to have stirred some debate!

The ring is in a very small container under a tree at co-ordinates x=2555, y=3759. You can get the co-ordinates for the point the mouse is at by pressing the L key (x refers to the number of pixels to the right and y the number of pixels down, starting from the top-left of the map).

Cheers Grond0 - I'll give it a go when I'm next near the Friendly Arm. Doing the lower levels of Durlag's at the moment.

Wow! That is difficult to find - without the coordinates you have very little chance.

I believe the game was originally in 640x480. screens got bigger. pixels got smaller. I'd imagine it was slightly easier to find back then.
