If you can remember any time where another character makes a point of your race/origin etc , where it seemed like it made an impact on the conversation or someone's thoughts of you, and you actually appreciated the distinction, discuss it here. I'd love to hear some epic quotes, like something you found touching or inspiring.

For example I have heard that when playing a dwarf when about to bed Alistair you can ask something along the lines "Even though I'm not human?" And he replied "Especially because you are not human." The option may be availiable to elves too, if it exists, since I've only heard about it, not experienced it.

I'm curious to know if Alistair has any special dialouge while in a romance with a mage,  if he really mentions it at all.

If I remember right, his reaction was pretty funny.

The dialogue with Jowan in the basement of Castle Redcliffe is pretty funny (if you're a Mage).

If you're a female Mage you have some additional dialogue with Cullen in the Circle Tower (how he has always loved you...).

The part where I get to marry Anora or Alistar and become the king/queen was very nice.

Being a mage makes a (tiny, but lovable) difference in Alistair/Wynne banter. The difference being whether she's his "favoritest" or "second favorite" mage.

I know you can get kind of pissy with Leliana if you're an elf. The conversation revolves around serfdom and slavery, and seeing an elf as a person rather than a chattel or prize animal.

You can get pissy with a lot of people if you're an elf. King Cailan is an early example with, "I'm no friend of yours, human lord."

When I was in Orzammar and spoke to the legion of the Dead commander as a Dwarf all I had to do was suggest he come fight on the surface with me and he came. So far my other character (elves) had to use some persuasion... though it may have had to due with me being a warrior and not a dwarf. But I pretty sure the line was something along the lines of 'showing them what we dwarfs can do.' I'm paraphrasing, but yeah.

As a mage, it certainly made alot of difference in a few dialogues. With Morrigan and Wynne, most noticably, but with a few other NPCs too. And a couple funny lines with Alistair, too.

And she didn't take offense, strangely, and still wanted to romance my elf mage.

I was actually impressed with her.  My elf asked if he should offer himself to a rich Orlesian and she was embarassed and apologized.  She said she had much to think about and I actually got a few approval points.  A lot of people who have their prejudices challenged just get angry about it, but Lel realizes she has some attitudes that aren't right and wants to fix it.

Many characters react to your character's origin story. Even Dwarf noble has a different line when Alistair asks her to her tent than even the dwarf commoner and elves. Human noble has many different reactions from Loghain, Howe, and the other nobles. It's one thing that keeps the story interesting.

The banter between you and king Cailan as a city elf is indeed great.

"So where do you come from ?

-From one of your Alienage, of course.

-I heard these are terrible places, but Loghain never allows me to get in, how is the situation here?

-I killed the Arl's son for raping my friend.

-You...what ?"

*Duncan timely interruption*

Awesome :D

As I recall, Leliana says that Elf servants are popular in Orlais because they are "quick and dexterous and pleasing to look at." How she didn't expect an Elf to get upset at that conversation is beyond me. But agreed, it's nice to get approval for challenging her ideas. One of my favorite conversations.

Mages get a few unique conversation options with Alistair when he talks about Templar uniforms where you get to compare your mage clothes. Cute conversation.

I also seem to recall you get extra options when speaking to Howe just after you go to Denerim with Eamon. My city elf was able to berate him in nearly every dialogue option for what he'd done to the elves whereas my mage basically had nothing interesting to say at all. And of course, human nobles.

I find most quotes beginning "News of the hour. . ." are pretty funny, if not epic.

Playing DA on my desktop as we speak:  "Rumors of Gray Warden demon worship circulate!"

When you return to the Alienage as a City Elf and speak to Shianni for the first time, she mentions your wedding and talks about how everyone thought you died at Ostagar. Alistair (who my character was romancing) interupts and is shocked that you were married.

It's nice to see your companions actually care about your past. Sometimes it felt like your origin story never happened or never mattered.

I did the City Elf and Elven Mage origins before Human Noble. The first thing that made a huge impression on me was how Ser Perth of Redcliffe reacted to my noble versus my elves (I made him call me "lord" *grins*). I also love the way Wynne's dialogue changes with some of your origins. Honestly, the Human Noble seems the most integrated into the world. My background seemed to be more prevalent in more conversations, and I always chose options relating to it (especially when Howe's name came up).

I thought Human noble added a **** ton of extra stuff...all that talk about losing title and giving up your former life after becoming a Warden, and half the country was bowing to me...

- What? You were married?
- It didn't work out well. There was a rape and they brought the wrong cake!

Hah something along those lines.

Pretty sure that your companions react whether you're romancing them or not.  Alistair said the same for my male city elf and I was certainly not romancing him.  Zevran, on the other hand,  who I was romancing, seemed quite irritated that I'd never told him.  "What?  Wedding?  Oh, now who's keeping secrets?"
