Yes, because it's pretty much the best weapon ever conceived (for this game)...If only it would've had more ammo per clip.

Yes, I think so...but mainly just because most of the other assault rifles in the game are relatively lackluster.

Then it might actually be considered OP, and nerf-eligible.
It is currently one of the most balanced weapons in the game, if not the most balanced.

You can roll back the forum and there are always, "Is <blank> overused?" threads. I could go back twelve years to "Return to Castle Wolfenstien" forums and find, "Are grenades overused?" threads.

I do not see it being used so much on Gold.
Maybe it is due to it's ammo, and players having lust for camping with ammo near them.

what assault rifles need is more types comparable to but not necessarily better than the harrier
for instance, with shotguns, we have good options for taste... claymore, geth, pirahna, reegar, each one with their own uses, and all of them very viable on gold
or sniper rifles, there's the widow, black widow, valiant, javelin, collector rifle, a lot of choices to fit someone's personal style
all assault rifles can offer really is the harrier which has good burst dps or the typhoon which is good for sustained along with the particle rifle, but they're both too heavy and require ramping-up, along with the laser having a high learning curve
the saber is of course interesting since it's a hipfireable sniper rifle, but I personally don't find it very useful, especially when crunching the numbers
the rest of the assault rifles are simply outclassed, even if they might be somewhat effective (phaeston, mattock)
so I think more variety is in order, personally

It's one of VERY FEW platinum-capable weapons that deals enough damage to kill enemies before they kill u. Therefore it is one of the most balanced weapons because it also requires u to move around the map to collect ammo (survival skill required). Other UR weapons need to live up to such standards but currently do not. Talon/paladin/PPR/BW/javelin are the only UR's worth using in platinum IMO. The rest need a buff.

The harrier is powerful but high recoil and low ammo makes it a second rate gun to me.
I'm still waiting for a geth pulse rifle boost so I stick with the phaeston.

The Harrier is definitely overused and overrated, many say it's the "best AR in game", yeah but they forget the Saber which is basically a scopeless sniper rifle which hits the enemies like a truck.
Scopless sniper isn't anyone's idea of best AR.

Never understood the hate for it since the recoil bug was removed. It's still a great gun, it could use a buff to base damage but it's still easily one of the best guns in the game.

PPR is more overrated IMO. I think because it's easier for console scrubs to use no-recoil weapons. PPR is a great weapon, but some people go on about it more than the Harrier.

Imo we need an automatic assault rifle between the harrier and the phaeston, something around these lines.
Weight: 1.6-1.0
Rof: 450
Recoil: between phaeston and harrier
Accuracy: as above
Clip size: 35
Magazine size: 200-300
Reload duration: 1.37 (0.67 canceled)
Damage per bullet: 85-107
I will use that!

The reason the Harrier is overused (and it is) is because it does good damage, and it feels like a regular assault rifle from every other generic war FPS game that's ever existed. It has alot in common with COD weapons (120 total rounds, ROF/Recoil).
It's the ME3 AK-47... and it's on all the foot troopers/noobs.

If they're not using the Harrier... it's the PPR/Typhoon or Piranha. Those are the 4 most commonly seen guns in Plat PUGS... besides of course, the Striker : )

Just saying. None of the console scrubs seem to realise that the Hurricane is arguably the best weapon in the entire game. The most common reason I hear is that it's hard to deal with the recoil.
But amongst PC players (who, with our super advanced nano-technology, AKA keyboard and mouse, can actually control recoil fairly easily), the Hurricane is revered and given its rightful place at the top of the weapon pile.
