Hey, was just wondering how much gold you guys have (legitly).
I've barely bought anything and just finished all of the camps besides Orzammar/Frostback Mountains that I'm going to be entering. I've got around 250 gold.
Best item I probably have is the Juggernaut Set for my Main Character, Warrior tank.
I roll with my tank, Wyne, Morrigan, and Leliana, so I'm not sure which character I should spend my money on (best to go with my tank though I'm guessing).
I'm kind of getting tempted to "cheat" by making Potent Lyrium Potions and selling them (profit of 30 silver per pot...costs less to make and sells for more) which would make me feel "less" guilty than opening up console heh (I want to try playing the game legitly so I don't ruin the fun)

You can do that trap quest in Lothering over and over if you want cash early on.

I've got 120 gold (20 hours playing time, level 11). I'm going to buy Rose's Thorn (140+ gold) and then some tomes and other stuff.

If you haven't done the quest to bring lyrium from the dwarf in dust town to the mage in the circle you can do that quest for for as much as a 70 gold profit. If you do the first quest for harrowmont you can blackmail one of the dwarves in the proving grounds for 15 gold. 25 gold for letting the demon from the asunder quest go in the deep roads. You can get 40 gold out of vaughan during rescuing the queen (120 if you're a city elf that let vaughan live in the beginning. That's 40 from the hidden stash and 80 from the chest). 50 for the rescue of a noble's son during the rescue of the queen. That's all the big gold rewards I can think of for where you are in the game. You'll also be getting a ton of gold from selling all the loot you find. Also if you're a female dwarf noble you get double for selling to gorim.

Ah, maybe on my next play through the game. Lothering has already been overrun by darkspawn!
But wouldn't that be considered cheating? Though it is a part of the game...I guess (not our fault the potent lyrium potion sells for more than its ingredients, or the trap trick)

Probably more of an exploit than a cheat. I mean if you're running short on cash there's a quick way to get a few G. I'd define a cheat as using the console and then "runscript zz_money xxx". Its a single player game and no one is going to worry too much really.

I think the lothering trap quest is no longer repeatable in v1.02a patch.

Trading goods from where they're plentifu to where they're scarce, and crafting items that require high-end skills, ought to be rewarding. I do think the potent lyrium exploit is over-the-top but in principle this kind of thing isn't cheating IMO, in fact I wish there were more (and more realistic) ways to make money through trade/crafting.

Confirming the lothering trap quest DOES work still as of new patch. Yay 3 new levels
Imho since the game fails to provide enough grinding opportunities, going and doing potions, or doing traps is a legit way to increase your cash pile, especially if you run 3 maxed out mages.

My last playthrough I was just under 500 gold. No mods or cheats/bugs. I sold most everything unless it was an upgrade in gear or weapons or a gift. Kept all lesser health and mana potions. Sold every other potion. This was also on easy mode...so I guess you can call that a cheat, hehe.

For me, this "glitch" was fixed after patch 1.02.
