Random question: Does anyone else think the kid in the stargazer scene is a little out of proportion?

It looks more like a scaled down adult silhouette than a child. The head is too small and the limbs are too long. Kind of creepy.

He's Canadian.

sH0tgUn jUliA: I'll see if I can smooth it out before I make it available for use in-game..

I still say this should be our official post credits scene. We destroyed the reapers, and now all that remains of the Reapers is the spirit that possesses Space Hamster where he will spend the rest of his days! It is hilarious.

I don't think it should be the official ending, but it would be criminal to not have this scene easily available for download because its just too good :D

I started watching the video expecting a bit of a hack-job of scenes and lines and, well, I was blown away. This is the ending that should have been.

And from the sound of things, it's only going to get better. :o

Of course it's going to get better - why would Mr. Fob go out of his way to make it worse?

"Think everyone enjoyed this too much, gotta keep the misery quota up, canonize Shepard's death in v0.3..."

Hey guys,

@sH0tgUn jUliA: I'll get beack to you on that but probably it's best if you can just give me the track in as high a quality as you can manage. I'll have to ancode it with wwise anyway and I have to see how high I can push the bitrate while still being able to fit everything in.

@Bierwichtel: Good to see you again. Shuttle scene would already be a great boon for 0.3. We'll just keep the rest for 0.4 and (together with JULIA's music, posssibly some new animations and some other things) make that the real spectacular update :).
Also, good luck with the new Job. Is it in Hollywood? :)

@SpaceHamsterHarby ... uh ... wavion: Since I think I am at a point where I pretty much have good control over conditionals, we could try and make the space hamster a super secret post-credit scene, which you only get if a really weird combination of different conditions are set for your Shepard. Suggestions? :)

@PKchu: Well, have you seen this? It proves quite convincingly that you can make WIP worse. ;)

Is there any way you can smooth out the video panning? I know it's a real pain in the ass.

The jerky motion was caused by mismatched framerates in the videos. Frames were being duplicated at random by the software to stretch it to the correct length. I have gone in and, frame-by-frame, removed the duplicates and then replaced them with new transitional frames.  Here is the result.  It's not perfect, but I think it's the best I can do, and it should be the version I make available to MEHEM.

Not that particular video, but I've seen Jim Sterling's complaints about that game and it reminds me of the ending reaction a year ago in terms of people being mad about mislead or long wait for a bad product, etc.

Don't think there's going to be an Extended Cut or MEHEM for A:CM though. <_<

Conrad Verner dies + something else.

The fate of the universe depends on Verner.

MrFob: I like the idea; I'll try to think of some possible triggers.

Maybe if you kill off the krogan, kill off the rachni in 1, kill verner, and have only quarians or geth... because all those choices would severely weaken the galaxy in theory; thus meaning harbinger survives (trying to threaten everybody with a space rodent).

What's like, some of the easiest things to *not* fail in the game?

I like I believe in ME2, at Tali's trial even with low charisma points, you can even rally the crowd so only default Shep can fail at preventing the exile.

Those kind of "deaths" or "failures" where success is basically making the tiniest bit of effort.

EDIT: I'm aware this started out as a bit of a joke but - this would be a good way to distinguish outcomes in low/mid/high EMS or choices, alternate Stargazer bits.

What about saving the Collector Base at the end of ME2? That was was supposed to be the most monumental choice of ME2 and it ended up having no real impact on ME3, other than slightly changing the EMS requirements to get certain endings. We could make it so that if you saved the Collector Base instead of destroying it, the Reapers are defeated, but Harbinger manages to survive.

Collector Base is a good idea for a base.

If that was the only conditional, it would be a little bit too easy to get it though.

---

Definitely love this idea of some kind of minor impact in the Stargazer scene to show a bit of variance in MEHEM.

maybe tali getting exiled+saving collector base would work, because people rarely do both. Somebody would likely have to be actively shooting for the hamster scene to do this
because as I understand it, this scene is supposed to be like an easter egg right? Kinda hard to get

You'd have to replay all of ME3 if you didn't already have a save file with the collector base saved. That could potentially be a lot of work!

It looks good. 90% of the time for the last 10% eh?

Much better. I love this clip.

I like the "near impossible 3 game long conditional trigger" for the space hamster. Like carrying the gnome through all of Half Life.

Obviously, the first trigger would be to buy the hamster in ME2, and the second would be to catch it in ME3.

Edit: Is there a flag for visiting the Shifty Looking Cow in ME1? I believe the cow and hamster work for the same nefarious organization.

That might be enough - it's really easy to miss the hamster in ME3. I did on my first playthrough.

1. ??? in ME1
2. Buy Space Hamster in ME2
3. Save Collector Base (thus giving Harbinger more tools within Cerberus)
4. Find Space Hamster in ME3

Of course, the variables must actually be in the save file. Not everything is tracked.

Okay if you want to trigger it:

1) shove gun in Conrad's face in ME1
2) buy space hamster
3) you destroyed the Collector Base in ME2
4) Conrad either a) dies in ME2; or B) you didn't do Jenna's quest in ME1 which causes Conrad to die in ME3.

That's kind of a weird combination. You threw him out of the bar. Or you didn't, but you failed to do Jenna's quest in ME1. AND you destroyed the Collector Base.

You can still buy space hamster in ME3 even if you bought one in ME2 and can't find it, did you know that?

This way both paragon and possible renegade options come back to bite you in the ass. It doesn't play favorites.

This is NOT Harbinger. This is what is left of the "collective consciousness of all reapers", their "soul". :? and now it is trapped in space hamster for the rest of space hamster's life.

number 1 leaves me blank. Maybe doing something verner, but its extremely unrelated. I do like the triggers listed by wavion though: buy hamster, save base, find hamster. Not too hard, but not something you are gonna get unless you try, likely.

Punch Khalisah in 1
Be Nice in 2
Punch Khalisah in 3

The space hamster only appears to those who are schizophrenic

That is true.

I was thinking more from the perspective of a generic renegade (obligitory heart of gold) who did things he didn't really enjoy who still "deserved" a happy ending and wanted a bit more traditional MEHEM sequence.

Not like, torturing people into working for this scene.

Hmmm.

1. Pick Udina in ME1 or Don't Save the Council
2. Buy Space Hamster in ME2
3. Save Collector Base (thus giving Harbinger more tools within Cerberus)
4. Find Space Hamster in ME3

Udina _and_ saving the council is like, one of the weirdest choices you can do that very people choose.

Udina or don't save the council and the base make it more like the scene is sort of like condition for "renegades."
