I plan on doing it this way when I play ME3 from now on:

(Potential spoilers, but it shouldn't be anything you don't already know about if you've watched the Citadel DLC trailer)

Do the Citadel DLC mission immediately after the Cerberus attack on the Citadel, because it's obviously supposed to take place at that point, and it means I have the rest of the game to explore the new wards section and play the combat simulator. Finish the game with MEHEM, then after the credits, I'll go back and do the party, and pretend the party is a post-war celebration. Maybe someone can make a "One year later..." image or something to replace the Stargazer, to give time for the Citadel (or at least the part around Shepard's apartment) to be repaired.

Huh, so much for keeping this thread citadel spoiler free.

Anyway, I didn't play the DLC yet so I have no idea if it would make sense to make some "after ending" version of it or not. Once I get around to playing it, maybe we can figure something out.
For now, I am moving as quickly as possible to finish up v0.3 so I'll have to get back to you on that one.

I just finished my first MEHEM playthrough and I would once again like to thank Mr Fob and all the people who helped in the creation of this wonderful mod, such a fitting end for my Shepard, very moving, thank you!

Sorry, I don't think I was spoiling anything that people wouldn't already know about if they watched the trailer, but I added a spoiler warning just in case people want to go into the DLC completely blind.

You'll probably get more traffic in here since the DLC, and because MEHEM fans are out consoling those of us who held out hope that BW would do something more with their endings. Thank you to all who are working on this, when v0.3 comes out i'll try it out. Again thank you.

Here's hoping! MEHEM helps shape the DLC as an epilogue. ^_^

Seeing great effort here, but I have one concern.

I've recently installed saltisgood's texexplorer project which "permanently" installs high-res textures into the game.

Having installed The Citadel, and MEHEM afterwards, ME3 refuses to launch, it keeps saying "Mass Efffect 3 has stopped working."

But when I uninstall MEHEM, it works again. Keep in mind, I'm using the installer.

Any ideas why?

I have a quick question about the Citadel DLC or any DLC for that matter. When you finnish the game (with MEHEM installed) and after the star gazer bit can you then play DLC? in other word can I play Citadel with MEHEM after the credits role and your back at the galaxy map?

Once you finish the game, you get sent back to the point just before Cronos station.  So yeah form there you can finish up any missions, do DLC, etc.

@UNATCOHQ: I am not sure what exactly the Texture mod does but MEHEM in it's current form reaplces a file called PCConsoleTOC.bin in the Mass Effect BioGame directory. This file stores the size of every other file the game uses, including Texture archives. My guess would be that the Texture mod increases the size of some of these archives and updates the PCConsoleTOC.bin accordingly. However if you install MEHEM afterwords, that file is overwritten by the one from my mod, which is based on the original.
This can screw up the game. If you want,to run both, install everything, then try to downlodad the ME3Explorer and run one of its tools called "TOC.bin Upadter". This tool reads out the current file sizes of all your ME3 files and updates the PCConsoleTOC.bin accordingly. So if that is what causes the problem, running the updater when everything is installed might just fix the problem.
Of course, it might also be something else. Can't tell until I have a closer look at the Texture mod. If you do want to give it a try though, let us know if that solution works. Hope that helps. :)

About your second question, everything works fine for me with the latest version of the game.

later EDIT: And what wavion says. :)

The installer ideally should only be applied to an unmodified game - it won't work well with some mods. To get MEHEM working with other mods you might need to install it manually.   But, first I would suggest using the installer to install MEHEM on an UNMODIFIED game, and THEN try installing your other mods. This will often work, but bear in mind that uninstalling MEHEM could possibly uninstall part or all of your other mods as it will return its files to the original unmodified state.

EDIT: And what MrFob says.

Great work here folks, and its really good to know that MEHEM is compatible with Citadel. Just one thing MrFob, and this gets back to some of our discussions on the AWTR thread, have you considered foreshadowing how the crucible works in order to get the MEHEM ending?

Hackett mentions that they don't know exactly what the thing will do, and we have intimations from Leviathan about the catalyst and so forth, but I think it is possible to foreshadow your ending with the replacement of some of the text in the in game messages. In particular, I am thinking of some of the less popular messages, like the Kai Leng's troll message, which I believe wouldn't have conditionals and must just crop up after the mission with him.

Admittedly I haven't played any DLC, and have only a rough idea of lore, but I have mocked together a draft of a text replacement that would provide some foreshadowing of the way the catalyst functions in MEHEM. If you want a look, or think its possible, just let me know and I can PM it or whatever if you want it kept as a surprise. It is a much more pleasant revelation.

If you do this, I will seriously consider buying a pc version of ME3 just for MEHEM.

Appreciate the reply.

I'll let you know what happens after installing and doing the TOC.bin Updater.

*UPDATE*:

It appears your solution of using the PCConsoleTOC.bin updater worked. It detected 170+ish changes and the game loads now.
Nevertheless, thanks for the solution, it works now . :wizard:

@UNATCOHQ: Glad to hear it. It's good to know in case this question comes up again.

@frypan: Good to see you again. I think this is a great idea and I surely wouldn't miss Kai Leng's message (hm, now that I think about it, I wouldn't miss Kai Leng as a whole but that's a different matter). Feel free to post ideas for this here or - if you don't want to spoil the surprise - we can talk via pm.

You don't need to replace any emails. You can just add a new entry to the normandy email list and input the proper conditional, string references (you can add new entries to the tlk file too), and a unique plot state (basically any number that isn't already used by the game...if you want to safe choose something long and random like 843742332)
This is very easy to do by looking in biogame.ini in the Coalesced but if someone runs into problems I can let them know how I do it.

@MrFob

Wil PM it through. It is probably best that it go for some peer review, so I will run it through the AWTR folks to see what they think. There is some characterisation involved that needs to be right. Its only a proof of concept, but the idea has possibilities for integrating MEHEM into the game overall, while recognising the original purpose of the catalyst as the devs imagined it - only we never have to face that ugliness.

@HJF4

That is really good to know, thanks. The orignal game was a bit short on the emails, but if we can add them in, we could build up the concepts inherent in MEHEM as the game progresses. In effect, the crucible comminques could develop the themes that MEHEM represents, such as unity, co-operation and the hard work Shepherd has done to get everyone together.

Hah - good idea! Cpt Fob deserves his moment. Maybe something prior to the end, about his ship being assigned to support the Normandy if required?

There are lots of issues that could be addressed using the email system. For one, something that would make Citadel seem less jarring in the face of the war. I dont know, perhaps a message from Anderson stating that the Reapers have backed off or slowed their takeover of Earth, almost as if they are "waiting" for something? Similarly, something about there being break as the crucible gets completed, that gives Shepherd some time for R&R. I havent played the game in a while, but a couple of key issues could be addressed this way tto fill in a couple of thematic issues while trying, as I did with the last one, to personalise the war effort around the crucible and prepare for MEHEM's ending.

...and give Cpt Fob his moment of course.

I love the idea. Is it possible to insert the Nuremberg as a war asset also? My vote is for putting the Nuremberg in the 5th Fleet, the one at the Battle of the Citadel in ME1.

The picture is part of the EC slides. You can simply extract them from the DLC and use RAD tools to convert the bik movie into anything you like. However, the game's videos only come in a 1280x720 resolution anyway so you might as well just take a screenshot.
And yea, it's Kasumi, mourning for her lost memories. If you choose synthesis in the original game and if you didn't destroy the greybox in ME2, you'll see her enjoying the company of Keiji instead.

EDIT: Just did some testing while having a modded coalesced.bin in my ME3. The results can be a bit erratic and ... shall we say ...inappropriate.
