@wwinters99 Nope, is going to be another fleet officer, from the SSV Teide. A dreadnought captain that leads the attack against Harby.

@Ironhandjustice

Amazing work you are doing. If you are bringing in a new commander, I would only have one suggestion, and that is to keep the focus on Shepherd even if he is not in the scene. As the point to the final battle is to provide the player with feedback for all their work, it is important to have all these individuals, whether they are Cpt Fob, or other folks such as the Normandy crew, performing these deeds for Shepherd. If the officer of the SSV Teide leads an attack on Harbinger, maybe he could state something along the lines of "this is for Shepherd" or another such reference.

I'm helping MrFob work on some similar forms of player feedback that tie up some loose ends in the narrative, but it can only go so far. The visual feedback you are working on is the final reward for the player's work throughout the trilogy. Like the end to the first and second game, the key is to ensure that any scene without Shepherd is still, in some way, about them.

For example, in ME1, it was the crewmates searching the rubble for Shep. In ME2, we had Joker covering Shepherd from the Normandy door. Each scene said something about the loyalty the character inspired in his crew, and the same would be good in the final battle. This is a galaxy brought together by the actions of one important character, and the battle scenes should reflect that if possible. Your kind of scene, linked to Shepherd, helps to deal with the disconnect many players felt when vewing the original endiing, where their personal input was sidelined in the interests of the catalyst and big explosions.

Its great stuff, and like the way MrFob has centred the battle on the Normandy and Shepherd, this can really add to the feeling of triumph through similar feedback on the player's role in the victory.

CptFob is alive and well, and awaiting the call to battle. The SSV Teide stands ready to assist.

@iakus

Yep, that's how we want to feel. There is still hope..

In fact, there is a speech doing this reference. Is even recorded and played in my test versions xD

But yes, is going to be a tribute scene. The idea is that Harbinger, the main villain, is out there, doing... what it is it doing? There is a superweapon coming in and it only beams people while it approaches? This gives the take off scene a bit of sense. I mean, he takes off to destroy the crucible.

Something is missing, and there is where I come to help. Harbinger deserves an epic, badass ending, as reaper leader. It does not have it in the original game because it was turned into a puppet.

@McBlade223

Well, technically is part of MrFob project. He made this possible, I've only come to give some ships to his attack to save our commander.

If not for him, my project will be stopped at the point of "mmm... I should do something to change this horror... but what can I do?". He is the real hero here, and I can't thank him enough for MEHEM ^_^

@iakus

I cried when I first saw this scene. Quite this idea, indeed!

@BDelacroix
There is a reason to invent a new character and ship.  I promise :innocent:, is a good reason, thats why I beg you to have a little faith until you see it.

hey now you've made me REALLY want to see the scenes, and Harby's epic death. For Shepard and pie!
On a serious note, that means that you've completed voice acting? If so great, cant wait to see the scenesB)

No, the only VA complete is the first sequence of the Teide's captain (I VA him). I have to contact a friend to make the XO VA to make the first sequence test.

After that, I'll fix the bugs and I will pass to the second sequence, where I need fractured objects (requires research) on zero gravity. Once done, I can record the remaining sequences. Some are quite easy, others are not.

One of my tests made my computer run out of memory when calculating lights, and as this can ruin everything, I should be carefull.:innocent:

Hey gang, I thought I'd better be a little more clear why I came to the decision as to why I wanted that break in the music in the mod. It more or less comes down to legalities and copyright issues. My voice coach who is a recording artist recommended I do this to protect my own work. Sorry. I didn't write the update in the copyright laws. Blame congress five years ago and Napster back in the 1990s. So a few seconds in scene shouldn't matter that much. I've got some ambient ME3 battle sounds now and I'll tell you they sound awesome and really add some drama.

See the first part, the battle scene is all original music: mine. I'm also planning for it to be part of a longer composition, perhaps about 10 minutes. I intend to publish and sell this. Whether anyone buys it is not the point. There are too many lawyers out there today. I am donating a section of this for the mod.

The second part contains the Mass Effect 1 theme which is owned by Jack Wall and Sam Hulick, and therefore becomes an arrangement. I can arrange anything and not charge any money for it without infringing on copyright so long as I give full credit to the original writers. The second it is connected to my original work, my original work could become part of that arrangement. I just say "Mass Effect Victory theme by Jack Wall, Sam Hulick arranged by...." for what goes into the mod and we're good. I can put original material in an arrangement which I am doing. I just can't make any money from it.

ah the joys of copyright and DRM :devil: Glad you have found an arrangment though. Sounds like you are a fair ways through this; mind if I ask what particular style/genre your soundtrack is?

Running out of memory can be... problematic. I can run ME3 on ultra and yet I cant run an after effects sequence longer than 30 seconds with my RAM. Hope your computer is better than mine ;)

Awesome that you at least got a little VA done. And again, I am really looking forward to seeing these scenes

The videos are going to be videos. Rendering them is another question as I need memory to calculate the lighting.

Will be no problem ingame :)

Yeah I know once implemented in ME3 it will be fine; I just would hate being the one doing the animation; better you than me. Out of curiosity (since you mentioned moving) do you have an estimate on when you will have finished the animation, VA, etc? No pressure, just curious

Depends on many variables. The first, how much time I have :) I have been having very few time this two late weeks, I expect this to end when I complete my "house transfer" xD

The only real problem could be the fracture tool, as I don't have had enought time to see it deeper. So, no date for the moment.

I expect it in months...

The style of my composition is orchestral Neo-romantic melodic with modern tonalities. Can't really give a comparison because while I have a music degree I slept through some of my theory classes and didn't take any composition classes, so didn't get shoved into a box like they did with people. I pretty much put things together the way I think they sound good and convey an idea I like.

I didn't FIND an arrangement of the ME1 victory theme. I am writing an arrangement of it using the main theme within my orchestration which is also in Neo-romantic style, but minimalist. This is an area where I'm really good. I give full credit of the melody to Jack Wall and Sam Hulick, that takes care of the copyright, and I take credit for the arrangement. See how this works now?

All of the orchestral film music you've heard since Alien is Neo-Romantic with a few exceptions.

Follow up for the group. The main theme (I call it the Victory Theme) of the second part is scored through to the end of my section and I think the timing works perfectly. I added to the last part of Hulick's "From The Wreckage" where Shepard emerges from the rubble in ME1 -- it's the part that Malukah uses in "Reignite" -- "I will always remember...." YAY!!!! Mission Accomplished! I just need to do the hard part now: fill in the orchestration, mix and master. I claim none of this last section as original work, but simply as arrangement inspired by....

I want try give you guys the feeling of "WE WON" that we were denied in the original endings. I just wish there was some Krogan victory head butting going on. They look too calm. lol.

At least the krogans are in the sequence. Where are my quarian gals all jumpy and triumphant for the death of the reapers instead? WHERE???

xD

Okay, seriously now. I definately look forward to see, or better listen, what you've done. :)

I'll put the track up on my Soundcloud when it's done and post the link. The very beginning is "filler" of an orchestral bass drum roll simulating the Citadel arms opening.

It's been nice outside and I've been getting a "studio tan." I am so hitting the golf course when I'm done with this.
